The Lotto Results. As you know I had no lotto results last week because due to the passing of John Cronin, the draw was deferred to Tuesday night. It was held at the Mal Passo Bar. There was no winner and the jackpot raised to €13,600.
So here are the full results of this weeks lotto draw which was held at
Mc Carthys Bar on Sunday night. Numbers drawn were, 4, 25, 29, 32. and the Jackpot was not won. €100 went to The Hickey’s c/o McCarthys bar. The seller was McCarthys Bar and they got €50 sellers prize. €50 went to Nora O Sullivan, Drishane View. €20 each to Carol O Leary, Carrigacooleen. The spell of fine weather has completely turned our lives around. There’s a smile on people’s faces, they’re wearing brightly coloured summer clothes , and going to the beach. etc. On a more serious note the farmers are working round the clock and getting several months work done at high speed . This goes for all those working out of doors, the pressure is on because no one knows how long this lovely spell will last. Lets hope for some time yet anyway.
And please do watch out for Silage gear on our roads ,one life has already been lost in the north when a car ran into a parked silage harvester.
Our National schools were all agog during the week when R.T.E. came to town to film some of the local atmostphere in the run-up to the All Ireland final on Sunday. Watch out for their findings on the Up- for-the Match Show on Saturday night. Included will be a very apt poem by Jerry Lehane, beautifully recited by ten year old Cloe Collins of Dooneen with all the children, dressed in red ‘n white and flags flying, giving the final cheer. The well –known Seanachie Jim Barry also expected to feature in the clip.Watch out for other Duhallow faces on the show.
Cullen celebrated the launch of Roger Casey’s book of poems in great style on Friday night. Many members of his own family as well as people of all ages came to support him on his big night. Children read from his book, and there was dancing to the music of local musicians. In good Cullen style there were refreshments for everyone and Roger was kept busy signing copies which were going like hot buns. Let me remind you that all proceeds will be shared between Cullen Pipe Band and Friends of Mallow Hospital.
Following her highly successful concert at the Glen Theatre copies of Ann-Marie O Reardons CD are on sale at our Centra Store.
Millstreet Community Council meeting ,which was deferred from last week will be held to-night, at the Youth Centre starting at 8.30. Please pass the word , and all members are asked to attend.

The Coffee morning in aid of the Church Restoration fund which was held at the home of Noel and Eileen Collins last Thursday was a resounding success. Due to the fine weather it was held out of doors in their beautiful garden and the takings far surpassed their expectations, with donations still coming. The final figure will be made known as soon as it comes to hand.
Meanwhile Patricia Guerin would like to thank all those who supported her Coffee morning in aid of Cope, The Cheque will be presented To Jerry Mullane of Cope Mallow at Tarrants Bar at a date yet to be decided.

This week the Living Scenes Project resumes at our Community School. Ten of our Transition yr students have opted to join & the school is appealing for the same number of adults either male or female to join also. Sport Millstreet overcame Donoughmore in the Co. U12 Hurling Championship in Millstreet on Saturday and they progress to play either Newcestown or Bishopstown in Coachford on next Saturday with a 12 noon start.
Millstreeet incurred a defeat to Bantry Blues in the Co. Premier Minor Football C’Ship at Kilmichael on Sunday. Next Saturday, Millstreet play Meelin in the Duhallow U21 Hurling Championship in Millstreet at 2pm.
The Cork and Kerry clash in Sunday’s eagerly awaited All Ireland senior football final is arousing terrific interest with dwellings and schools suitably decorated. RTE cameras visited Millstreet Presentation Convent National School last week and a slot is to feature on Saturday night’s Up for the Match programme..
Our own John Tarrant will be heading for Dublin to take part in the final of the All Ireland Jimmy Magee Quiz which will take place at Croke Park on this Friday September 18th. John was one of eight finalists out of a field of 126 to qualify for this final and we wish him the very best of good luck..
