I would love to get some advice from anyone who knows a lot about maintaining/restoring bogs. I used to cut and save turf here with my uncle so I am not anti turf cutting, but I am interested in putting the bog to good use in its current form with some improvement – I am not interested in reclaiming it as a field or planting it with trees.
There are lots of FB groups. An Taisce would be a good start, OPW, Coillte as they have been restoring boglands to their natural state and also google peatland restoration in Scotland and England. My amateur suggestion is block any drainage to start..!
