SPECIAL DIOCESAN COLLECTION NEXT WEEKEND

Already millions of Ukrainian people have been forced to flee their homes as refugees. It is a source of inspiration that people all over Ireland are responding with customary generosity to support humanitarian efforts in this crisis. Many parish communities have already established links with charitable projects to support refugees and those remaining in Ukraine. Recognising these urgent needs, the bishops are asking that a special collection be taken up at all Masses next weekend.  In response to this request a special collection will be taken up at the end of all Masses in our Parish next weekend 26th/27th March.  Your support would be appreciated.

Synodal Conversations Duhallow Sliabh Luachra Pastoral Area.

In response to the invitation of Pope Francis to be part of the largest consultation exercise in history, our Pastoral Area will be holding two “listening sessions” in the first week of April. This event is part of the preparations for the 2023 Synod in Rome when bishops and Church representatives from around the world will be reflecting on how the Church can listen better to the voices of her members and respond to the challenges of the day in a way that allows people to take part more fully in the life of the Church.  The parishes of our Pastoral Area (Millstreet, Rathmore, Boherbue, Dromtariffe & Ballydesmond) are extending an invitation to everyone – whether they feel distant from the Church or are active parishioners – to come along to either of these meetings, to express their own point of view and to listen to the voices of others.

Monday April 4th    Teach Iosagain Rathmore at 7.30p.m.

Thursday April 7th The Parish Centre Millstreet at 7.30p.m.

This meeting is more than about preparing a report that will be sent to Rome. It is also about our ongoing desire to “listen better” at a local level. “When Pope Francis launched this initiative last October, he made it very clear that he wants local parishes to be better at listening to each other in order to make decisions locally that take everyone’s perspective on board. Our listening exercise is a first step in responding to that challenge.”
