The Glen Theatre Drama Group are delighted to announce that we will finally reopen our doors for our Autumn Production which was postponed in 2020 due to Covid-19 restrictions.
Written by Seán Ó Deadaigh and directed by our own Tadhg O’Keeffe, The Cause depicts the story around the capture of a Black and Tan officer by members of the Cork No. 1 Brigade, Irish Revolutionary Army Captain Seán O’Donoghue and Volunteer Jamesy O’Mahoney during one of the greatest single atrocities of Ireland’s War of Independence – The Burning of Cork. We thank Marie Burke, P.R.O., The Glen Theatre Drama Group for the excellent background information before the Premiere of “The Cause” this Friday at The Glen Theatre.
In accordance with Government and HSE Guidelines, Covid-19 protocols will be in place. People attending future events at The Glen are requested to please wear a mask in conjunction with other measures at the event.
We share some scenes from the upcoming truly powerful production. (S.R.)
Great write up Sean and I really enjoyed chatting with you. I think the story will resonate with the people of rebel Cork. Corcaigh Abú. It’s a pity the decades of centenaries mandarins of Cork City Council do not consider my work and that of the Glen Theatre worthy to be put up on their website. As Terence Mac Swiney said ” it’s not those who can inflict the most but those that can endure the most” We drive on to greater and better.
Every success, Seán, with this truly powerful Drama “The Cause” which you have superbly written as it premieres in the Glen Theatre this Friday night. A brilliant Cast and Director also.
