Carnegie Hall 1945 where Coláiste Pádraig was located at that time. Teachers Garrett Hickey and Joe Garvey are pictured with the many Students. (From the Garvey Family Archive kindly shared with Millstreet Museum).  We are very interested to discover the names.   The Student (3rd from left in 2nd row) could well be Denis “Toots” Kelleher!  (Names being gradually identified)
Pope Francis addressing the Irish Nation on Friday evening – 19th March Feast of St. Joseph – as he officially granted International Status to Knock Shrine which was acknowledged by the Clergy at Knock.

Artist Supreme, Denis O’Connor – a native of Main Street, Millstreet – now residing in the UK pictured in 2000 with “Lost Industries” – one of his two magnificent Sculptures located near Blackpool, Cork on the South Link Road. The other very popular work of art seen below is known as “The Hurlers in the Boat”

  1. In the 3rd row and 4th to right appears to be Michael O Connor who was one of the original 5 pupils to start in the school. His 3 children live in DUBLIN, and I his brother in Yonkers NY.

    1. Denis…thanks a million for helping us to identify the names of the Students pictured in this wonderfully historic 1945 image. We’re hoping that in time we may receive information identifying the entire group.

  2. And we thank Nora May Kelleher for providing two further names to the historic photo. Fr Con Kelleher, Laught is second from left in front row and his brother, Pat is second from left in the back row.

  3. The academic achievements of Coláiste Pádraig were amazing for a small town. My contemporaries included future surgeons, psychiatrists, engineers and astrophysicists to name just a few examples. Thanks to Garrett and Rita Hickey, Joe Garvey, Frank Galvin and Geraldine O’Brien. You paved the future for me and so many others.
