SEASON OF ADVENT

This weekend we begin the season of Advent which is a time of waiting for the great event – the coming of Christ.  Pope Francis has described the Advent season as a time of conversion to make space in one’s heart for Christ to come and fill it with joy. Vigilance, he continued, means “paying attention to our neighbor in difficulty and allowing their need to draw us in, without waiting for him or her to ask us for help.”  May we continue to be vigilant to the needs of our family members, our neighbours and our community as we journey through these challenging times.

UPDATE ON LIVE STREAMING IN MILLSTREET CHURCH

As outlined in our newsletter last week our Parish Finance Council have decided that the Parish will install live-streaming in Millstreet Church and we are happy to report that work has commenced for this.  This will allow our local community and those living away from the Parish around the world to make a connection with home in these uncertain times.

This is a major investment by the Parish and the cost is outlined hereunder:

The cost to purchase equipment and installation:  €4,566.00, thereafter there will be a yearly cost of €1,320.00 covering service and maintenance to the system.

Households that have our local Church TV will not be affected by our new service and you will continue to view Masses as you have always done.

I want to sincerely thank those who have given donations towards this work, it is much appreciated.

RETURN TO PUBLIC MASS

Following the Government announcement on Friday night it is with optimism and caution that we announce the return of Public Masses from Wednesday 2nd December.

To ensure the safety of everyone who wishes to attend Mass and to comply with the guidelines outlined by our Government & NPHET those wishing to attend Mass are asked to reserve a place. As with our previous return to public Mass our proposed schedule for this coming week is:

Millstreet:  Wednesday (2nd), Thursday (3rd) & Friday (4th) at 10.00a.m.

Saturday 5th at 6.30p.m. and Sunday 6th at 11.30a.m.

Mass in Ballydaly and Cullen will recommence on Tuesday 8th December, the feast of the Immaculate Conception.

For our Parishioners who will attend Mass please note the following:

  1. Face coverings must be worn in the Church.
  2. We will have ushers in the Church to show you to a seat and we will be asking people to fill the Church from the top down to limit the movement indoors.
  3. Ushers will also monitor and control the exiting of people after Mass and we are asking that you do not congregate in the Church yard after leaving the Churches.

PARISH OFFICE

Our Parish Office will re-open to the public on Tuesday next 1st December at 10.00a.m. and parishioners wishing to attend Mass can contact us (during office hours please) to reserve a seat from next Tuesday.  Bookings will apply to all week day and week-end Masses in the Parish.

Please note bookings are not being taken at the moment for Christmas Masses.  When we have finalised details for Christmas, we will announce them.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK:

Time has a wonderful way of showing us what really matters.
