A letter from Seamus Heaney, head of Visit Cork, on how they are recommending the Cork tourism sector can adapt and recover in this changed tourism environment, and details about free online training sessions from industry experts:
Dear Industry Partners,
We hope you are all keeping as well as can be expected in these very challenging and unprecedented times.
Over the past few months we have been working in the background with various bodies along with politicians to represent the interests of the Cork Tourism industry.
The Cork Tourism Task Force comprises of key stakeholders from the various sectors throughout Cork. It has been set up by the Visit Cork board and meets weekly to try and keep at pace with all of the updates and changes.
The main focus of the Task Force is to assist the executives and board of Visit Cork with key recommendations to government on how best the Cork tourism sector can adapt and recover in this changed tourism environment, including:
Ensuring there is clarity for tourism providers on how they can reopen safely. Move to 1m Social Distancing (and apply additional precautionary measures, as set out in Protocols due to be published by Fáilte Ireland). Introducing bilateral agreements allowing travel between safe countries Furthermore, the Task Force will offer a suitable platform for strategic engagement with the wider travel and tourism industry in Cork. We will do our utmost to keep you updated on its outputs.
In the meantime for your benefit we have organised a number of free online training sessions from industry experts (These are all worthwhile and should be attended by yourselves or the best placed member of your team, or both). The details of which you can find below including links to sign up for free.
