My sincere thanks to parishioners who have dropped their Capital Fund and Due envelopes into the post box in our Parish office over the past number of weeks. Your continued support and encouragement is very much appreciated.
The Parish office continues to be closed to the public but our secretary can still be contacted by phone (029 70043) or email for anniversary inclusions, mass cards or any other queries.
The month of May has always been associated with devotion of Our Lady and during this month all over Ireland people would visit their local Grotto’s to pray to Our Lady. Here in our town we are fortunate to have Tubrid Well to visit and since my time in Millstreet, I have always found that no matter what time you visit the well you are never alone. People visit for various reasons – some for thanksgiving, some seeking peace and comfort and others praying for the sick or bereaved.
However due to Covid19 restrictions we are currently unable to make these important visits, but that doesn’t mean we cannot be close to Our Lady in our homes. Pope Francis has issued a letter to the world for the Month of May and encourages everyone to rediscover the beauty of praying the Rosary at home during this month. So perhaps, here in our Parish, when we are unable to visit Tubrid Well or our Churches we can set aside some time each day and pray to Our Lady for protection and hope during these difficult days.
Pope Francis has also written a prayer that he asks us to pray at the end of the Rosary and he himself will pray it too during the month of May ‘in spiritual union with all of us’.
O Mary, You shine continuously on our journey as a sign of salvation and hope. We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick, who, at the foot of the cross, were united with Jesus’ suffering and persevered in your faith. “Protectress of the Roman people”, you know our needs, and we know that you will provide, so that, as at Cana in Galilee, joy and celebration may return after this time of trial. Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform ourselves to the will of the Father and to do what Jesus tells us. For he took upon himself our suffering, and burdened himself with our sorrows to bring us, through the cross, to the joy of the Resurrection. Amen.
On behalf of our Parish, I wish to thank the Drishane Sisters who have gifted our Church with this statue of “Our Lady of Victories” which had been in Drishane Convent and in their house in Killarney Road. We have placed it in the Sanctuary for the month of May and we will remember the Sisters and pray for them and their communities worldwide.
