Dear Parishioners,

This year we have celebrated our Easter Ceremonies in a very different way and while the restrictions put in place are difficult for each one of us, we can take strength and courage from the teaching of our Gospels.

We have read and listened for many years to the teaching of our Lord and we have head how the Risen Christ dispelled the fear of the disciples when the doors of the room were closed for fear. The Risen Christ gave hope.  Now we are like the disciples locked in our homes and it is this lesson of hope that we now need to believe in and it is this belief that will give us strength during these times and will help us to get through it.

To each person in our community, to each household who is dealing with illness or bereavement, may you find the strength you need in these two phrases that are vital for our world today and which the Risen Christ shared with his disciples and the world “Do not be afraid, peace be with you”.

My prayer this weekend for our parish, our community, our relatives, our friends, those who we are separated from and those who are fighting this pandemic on the front line is that God will protect us and that the faith we have will keep us strong.

I want to thank each of you for your continued support and prayers and may the true meaning of Easter be in each of our homes this year.
— Fr. Fitzgerald.
