Dear Parishioners,

As we continue to journey during these difficult and unprecedented times please be assured of my prayers for the safety of all our Parishioners – here at home, those who are living around the world and especially those who are working in the frontline.

The safety guidelines that have been put in place to contain the spread of COVID 19 have impacted on the way we practice our faith but be assured our Churches will stay open for private prayer. However, I am asking that those visiting the Church practice physical distancing and avoid the touching of hard surfaces where possible.

Our Masses will continue to be celebrated behind closed doors and will be transmitted locally on our Church TV and I am grateful to Seán Radley for the transmission of our Masses through the Cork Music Station (www.corkmusicstation.com). This transmission is allowing those who are not near their loved ones to feel connected and this is very important during this time.

As you are aware the situation and spread of COVID19 is continuously changing and Bishop Ray Browne and the Diocesan Office are continuously updating our Parishes regarding best practice for the safety of our clergy and parishioners. In accordance with updated guidelines received I will not be making First Friday Calls for the month of April and I will offer Mass during next week for your intentions and well-being.

I want to thank you all the encouragement and support you continue to give me and I wish you and your families continued health and safety. God’s blessing to you all. Fr. John Fitzgerald

Prayer to St. Corona in a Time of Epidemic

Lord Jesus Christ, You came into this world for our salvation. Look kindly on us now, we pray, that we, and all those who serve You, might be kept safe from this epidemic. Heal those who are sick, comfort the suffering, bring back those who have gone astray, and above all, increase our faith, O Lord. Give us the grace to follow You and, like the martyr St. Corona, who gave her life for love of You, to take up our crosses daily without fear or hesitation. Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the living God, have mercy on us and on the whole world.  St. Corona, patroness of epidemic victims, pray for us.
