Joan Lynch Crane of Las Vegas, NV, passed away on January 20, 2020, at St. Rose Dominican Hospital – Sienna Campus, Henderson, NV.
Joan married Allan Crane of Staten Island, NY, in May 1960. Joan and Allan had four girls while living in Staten Island, NY, and eventually moved their young family to Old Bridge, NJ, in December 1970, where Joan and Allan stayed until 2001, when they retired and moved to Las Vegas.
Joan was a native of County Cork, Ireland. Born on February 23, 1936 as Siobhán Ó Loingsigh in Eagleounne, Cullen, County Cork, Ireland, to Mary Casey and Tim Lynch, who in all had 11 children.
Joan came to the United States in January 1956, where she lived in Staten Island and Bronx, NY. She started her career in banking with Chase Manhattan Bank. Joan continued her career in banking in 1973 with Central Jersey Bank & Trust, where she worked for several years. She then was employed by The Provident Bank in its East Brunswick, NJ, branch, where she became Branch Manager. She rose to the position of Vice President, and retired as such in 2001.
Joan was very active politically, and participated in many local and county political campaigns in Old Bridge and Middlesex County, NJ. Joan was an active Rotarian for many years, as a member of the South River/East Brunswick, NJ Rotary Club, where she served as the club’s first woman president.
Joan was very proud of her Irish roots, and visited her native land many times over the years with her family. During the last several years, Joan spent her summers in Ireland with her siblings, nieces and nephews.
Joan was predeceased by her husband Allan, and by her brothers, Donald and Padraig Lynch and sisters, Nora Murphy and Margaret “Peg” Healy.
Joan is survived by her daughters, Linda Crane of Las Vegas, NV, Kathleen Berger of Madison, NJ, Colleen Voorhees (Jeffrey) of Apex, NC, and Joan Jugan (Robert) of Hillsborough, NJ; seven grandchildren, who know her affectionately as “Nana”: Harry, Cailyn and Amelia Voorhees, Emily and Alanna Berger, and Robert and Kathryn Jugan.
Joan is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Mary Agnes O’Brien of Tralee, County Kerry, Ireland, Humphrey Lynch of Kanturk, County Cork, Ireland, Kathleen Deery and Sheila Dineen of Cullen, County Cork, Ireland, Treasa Murphy of Monroe, NJ, and Tadhg Lynch of Glanmire, County Cork, Ireland, and 17 nieces and 44 nephews.
Family and friends may visit on Sunday, January 26, 2020, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm, at The Brunswick Memorial Home, 454 Cranbury Rd., East Brunswick, NJ.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 27th, at 10:00 am, at the funeral home, with a 10:45 am Mass at St. Thomas the Apostle RC Church, One St. Thomas Plaza, Old Bridge, NJ. My farther john murphy was born and lived in Cullen from 1915 and sailed to england around 1945.the area was called Knocknashinagh. In cullen.
There was a big family on my dad’s side
The cottages are still standing although derelict .i have been back twice now. I was born and live in the uk

Thank you for finding my grand parents names. I never knew them or met them.
How far back did my family the Murphy’s live in Knocknashinagh.
It was nick named the yard.
I only knew of my farther as Jack Paddy and his brother Pat Paddy. But there was a few of them in the family.
One guy I did go back and meet back in 1997 was An old guy called Jack Martin
Also two famous sisters called the Mikey’s
