Sr. Christina O’Sullivan was born in Brosna Co.Kerry eighty two years ago. She entered the Presentation Congregation in the Noritiate, Oakpark Tralee. After her Profession, she was assigned to Millstreet Community until her death on 7th May 2005. She belonged a family of fourteen and had a sister (Sr.James) who predeceased her in Presentation Convent Killarney.
Sr. Christina was a woman of great faith, courage and was deeply spiritual. Her special devotion was the Rosary and she visited Tubrid Well almost daily. She loved people, and the people of Millstreet and surrounding areas loved her in return, which was shown by the crowds young and old who were present at her removal and funeral mass.
Where entertainment was concerned, music, dancing, and especially a Kerry Set were enjoyed by her at all social occasions. Her good humour and bright personality kept her young, and her special love for the “young at heart” of the parish and surrounds brought joy to everyone she met. She loved sport and especially when Kerry and Cork were in contention and especially when Kerry were winning of course!
Sr. Christina’s passing has left a big void in the Convent and she will be sadly missed for her hard work, her kindness and hospitality to everyone, and especially to her own sisters. May her memory live on in our lives. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hainm dílis.

Just came across this article on Sr.Christina. I will always cherish the great times we spent together – New York to celebrate Uncle Jack’s 90th. Our trip to the Aran Islands in 2001. Our day out at the Dingle music festival. Our great chats on the phone. I am sure she is laughing dancing and singing in heaven.

Yes indeed, Kathleen, we all have treasured and very special memories of the late Sr. Christina O’Sullivan of Presentation Convent, Millstreet and a native of Brosna, Co. Kerry. She was a true inspiration to us all and we shall all remember her consistent good humour, her wonderful smile, great laugh, splendid dancing especially in Cullen Community Centre and, above all, a nun who epitomised the very real Christian spirit of the foundress of her Presentation Order, Nano Nagle.
Did not know Sr. Christina personally but can appreciate her allegiance to the Kerry football team. My parents were from Kerry (Dad) and mom was from Knocknagree. The way they would play each other was hysterical – and Knocknagree so close to the Kerry border! – didn’t matter – they were two distinct rivals as if they were different nationalities.
