Farmers Cup Final: Los Zarcos 1-0 Aubane

Not having been contested for 4 years, the pre-season competition between local sides was revived this year. Emphasis being on enjoying ones self while still being competitive. The final, played yesterday (Saturday August 15th 2009) was contested between Los Zarcos (from Millstreet Town) who play in the Cork AUL and Aubane who assembled a team from a small pick especially for this competition.

The match started with Los Zarcos the more competant team, playing some nice football, but failing to create any good chance. It took Aubane some time to find their footing, and after ten minutes A bouncing ball on the edge of the Aubane box, was poked goalwards, and looped into the top corner of the Aubane net. This woke up Aubane, and for the rest of the half attacked the Los Zarcos goal, but no goal ensued.

The second half continued in the same fashion with Aubane creating lots of chances, but failing to stick one away, while Los Zarcos hardly registered a shot on target. But that was the way it finished, and everyone went up to Tarrants Bar where food and refreshments were laid on for the two teams.
