Eily’s Report – 18th July

Get ready  once again, to welcome 16 countries  to Millstreet this week for the FEI  European  Championships which will be held at our mighty Green Glens / Drishane Complex and will run from July 19th to 23rd inclusive. Here is the list of Countries that are coming: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Switzerland, and Sweden.  Since early last week they’ve been arriving, and filling the town with excitement as we prepare for the grand opening Parade  which will take place through the town at 6.30 on tomorrow Wednesday evening, July 19th. Welcome signs are placed on all the approach roads. The town will be decorated with bunting and the flags of the visiting countries. People are asked to decorate their windows and places of business and there will be a prize for the best one.

Following the Parade  which will be led by the Millstreet Pipe Band. All are invited along to the Green Glens for a  free  concert of live music and a performance by the mighty Fusion Fighters, for the official opening of the 2017  FEI European Championships. For young riders of 18/21.

Please pass the word around so that nobody will miss this spectacular performance.

On Thursday night July 20th at the Green Glens, meet the athletes from the 16 countries at a BBQ . Limited number of tickets available at the office, 02970800.

Saturday July 22 will  see the spectacular Cross Country, and fun for all  Day at Drishane Castle. Admission free.

And on Sunday its more of the same as the mighty undertaking draws to a close.

We wish the Duggan Family and their staff every success with this mammoth event. It will showcase not just Millstreet and the continent, but the whole world. Please come and be part of it all.

On Saturday next July 22nd a monster coffee day fundraiser in aid of Downs Syndrome Ireland will be held at the lovely home of Teresa and James Cronin, Kilmeedy. For 10am to 2pm. Please give them your best support.  Take the road at Kilmeedy Bridge,  going up  past Kilmeedy Castle.

 

The Healing Mass with Fr. Keane drew a record crowds at Gneeveguilla Church last Thursday night. And on the same night a fine crowd attended a prayer meeting at Aubane Social centre. It is was one of the Monthly prayer Meetings  which are held throughout the world, in 2017 to commemorate the  centenary of  3rd apparition of Our Lady in Fatima. Please be on the lookout for the next one in your area, which will be on August.

 

Here are the results of this week’s parish lotto draw which was held at the Wallis Arms Hotel on Sunday night.

Numbers drawn were,13, 17,18,25 and the Jackpot was not won. €100 went to Julie Peralta, California, The seller was Guys and Dolls,Salon and Mary got €50 sellers prize. €50 went to Aine Healy, Lower Gortroe, €20 each to Katie and Gary Williams, England, The Enright Family, Station. Rd,. Willie Ray, Murphy’s Terrace, Eileen Houlihan, Cullen, Joe Lawlor, Rathmore, The Lane Family, Drishane, Tricia Carroll, c/o Tom. and Jerry Reardon, Millwheel.

Jackpot for next week €3,400 the draw at Tarrants Bar on Sunday night.

The Duhallow Athletic Club hold Road Races on the 3rd Thursday of every Month. One of the people you can contact is Jerry Twomey 086 805 0821.

Cullen Special Needs association will hold their annual Harvest Afternoon on this Sunday July 23rd. A fun day out for all the Family. Please support them well.

The annual church Gate collection in aid of the Irish Cancer Society will be held this weekend July 22/23rd .

 

A special  Trocaire collection box will be placed in the church  at all Masses, this weekend in aid of Famine relief in Eastern  Africa. Where our help is badly needed.

 

Eucharistic Adoration at the usual times in Millstreet and Cullen Churches this week and confessions on Saturday in Millstreet from 12.30 to 1.
