SUNDAY – MOTHER’S DAY

This Sunday we celebrate Mother’s Day – we say thank you for everything our mothers have done for us and we remember in a special way those who have passed away.

We ask Our Lady to guide and protect mothers everywhere and give eternal rest to those who are no longer with us.

ST. PATRICK’S DAY

O Blessed St. Patrick, with the Lord now in His holy place, win a home for us there to see you face to face. With every blessing to all our parishioners, both here and away, on the feast of our Patron Saint St. Patrick.

This Wednesday we will celebrate the feast day of the Patron Saint of our Church, St. Patrick, unfortunately, Masses will be behind closed doors but thanks to modern technology and the dedicated work of The Fraser family, our Parish Choir, organist Deirdre Treacy, our young musicians, Margaret Dennehy and Millstreet Pipe Band both our Masses will be enhanced with various musical arrangements.  Our Vigil Mass will feature a small group of young musicians accompanied by Margaret Dennehy, while our 11.30 morning Mass will have a combination of recordings by Deirdre on organ, members of the Pipe Band on pipes, our Parish Choir and two renditions from 2018 and 2019 of Jane Daly on organ and the full Pipe Band (courtesy of Seán Radley).

All these recordings were done virtually and we are very grateful for the work that has gone into the preparation for this special day.

CONGRATULATIONS TO MILLSTREET PIPE BAND

This St. Patrick’s Day marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of Millstreet Pipe Band and I take this opportunity to extend sincere congratulations to your members and especially Liam Coffey and Tim O’Shea, for their service over the years.  This anniversary is testament of what the Pipe Band means to this community and I wish you continued success for the future.

FEAST OF ST. JOSEPH – FRIDAY 19th MARCH

Pope Francis asks that 2021 be a special Year of St Joseph’. His recent Apostolic Letter ‘With a Father’s heart’ (Patris Corde) speaks of the role of father, of protector, and of honoring all the wonderful people who quietly and unnoticed play an incomparable role in the history of salvation, mentioning all worldwide who have shown wonderful care over the past year.  Pope Francis reflects on St Joseph as a father under seven headings: beloved, tender and loving, obedient, accepting, creatively courageous, working and ‘a father in the shadows.”
