“Radio Treasures” Travels Back to 1980 Tonight on CMS

“Radio Treasures” is on air tonight (Tues., 8th Dec. 2020) on Cork Music Station from 9.30 to 11.00.   We feature our regular items with a splendid blend of uplifting songs and music… tonight we feature a selection of songs and music with lots of variety as well as lots of interesting musings and words of wisdom.  Feel most welcome to contact the Show on corkmusicstation @gmail.com ….   1.  Our 10pm Main Feature tonight brings us back to Monday, 17th March 1980 for the official Opening of Millstreet Museum – Listen to recordings from that morning’s St. Patrick’s Day Mass, the Parade (including the drumming of the late John “Sing” O’Sullivan).  That afternoon we hear our introduction to the historic event where we greet “The Millstreet Rovers”, Cork Co. Librarian – Pádraig Ó Maidín who officially opened the Museum, Fr. John B. O’Sullivan who blessed the Museum.  All recordings from 40 years ago!  And we remember the late Catherine Tarrant one of the Founder Members of Millstreet Museum who was laid to rest this afternoon.  R.I.P..
  2. We listen to the musical hits of 1980 including Frank Sinatra, ABBA, Dolly Parton and more.
  3. We recall the many famous people who have visited our Museum over the past 40 years – illustrated below.
  4. And we chat about the images which we now share:

    Piper Supreme, Con Houlihan played a superb musical tribute to the late Catherine Tarrant at her Funeral this afternoon. 

The first Live Streaming from St. Patrick’s Church took place on Monday, 7th Dec. 2020 for the celebration of the Vigil Mass. Presently the system is being tested and should be in full operation fairly soon.
