Johnny O’Leary and Denis Murphy play the hornpipes “The Rose of Drishane” followed by “Mike Sullivan’s“
“This is a really nice Sliabh Luachra hornpipe. It has a bit of a Northumbrian feel, as many of the local hornpipes tend to, but I don’t know of any relations it has. Drishane is near Millstreet in the southern part of the region and is host to a beautiful castle. Interestingly it made it into O’Neill’s (#1631), a testament to its history as it was likely given by Edward Cronin, who would’ve left the area in the 1880’s.” – the Session
Sheet music for the Rose of Drishane is also on the Session.
