Thunder and Lightening

We were warned about slow moving thundershowers with lightening, and that’s what we got. For two hours there was lots of noise, lots of flashes, and heavy showers, as cold air moved in on our lovely warmth. It feels like summer is rolling in 🙂 The picture below shows the lightening strikes from 4:30 – 5pm.

 

“Met Éireann have issued a status yellow – thunderstorm warning for Munster, which is valid from 16:00 Saturday 09/05/2020 to 22:00 Saturday 09/05/2020. Forecasters are warning of clusters of slow-moving thunderstorms this afternoon and early evening with lightning activity and local downpours. Some hail in places also.”

This is what we were under. Taken from near the Link Road in Cork just after 5pm, the storm had subsided over Millstreet (to the left of the photo behind the stadium), while Kanturk at that stage was in the middle of the storm and is shown under the tall clouds (likely at the anvil or mature stage):
