  1. From Cockhill in Millstreet where he first saw light of day
To Macreddin Cemetery in Aughrim a long stretch of roadway
Where his last remains forever does lay
Life’s journey has ended for John Joe O’ Shea

Grieved by his wife and family and friends the honourable man
Far from the fields of his boyhood he lived out his life span
In his journey in life many friends by him won
His late mum and dad in him raised a good son

One of many in Duhallow who did not remain
In him a huge loss to Millstreet became Aughrim’s gain
He did go through life without harming anyone
And he will be remembered for the good things for others that he done

In Irish sporting circles the O’ Sheas of Cockhill as a family are well known
And the people of Millstreet are proud to claim them for their own
John Joe was a patron of the G A A
And in the promotion of Ireland’s National games a big part did play

One who to his duties in life remained ever true
John Joe lived as a good person for to give him his due
In Macreddin Cemetery far from his first home in Cockhill he now rests in peace
From life for us all there is a final release.
