Fr. Bernard Dennehy of New Zealand Visits Millstreet

Denis Murphy of Cahirdowney, Millstreet accords a royal welcome to Fr. Bernard Dennehy from New Zealand whose grandfather, Michael, came from Cahirdowney and emigrated to New Zealand c. 1880. Fr. Bernard visited Millstreet for the very first time today and met many local people who made him feel so very much at home. He attended Fr. J. Fitzgerald's 10.00 a.m. Mass on Tuesday, 19th Oct. 2010 and we arranged to give him a tour of the area. We ended the day at Tullig House where he was so thrilled to meet Mary Cashman with sons Donal and Michael. Fr. Bernard had known the late Fr. Michael Cashman of Tullig House who devoted his priestly life to the people of New Zealand. (Seán)

  1. I am a NZ priest currently at All Hallows. I was in the Millstreet area Oct 8,9,10 visiting my ancestral home (Sullivan) at Caherbarnagh as the guest of Padraig Dineen. I know Bernie Dennehy from my time in Auckland diocese.Say Hi to him from me. Rev Brian O’Connell
