Local Election Count for Macroom area

The Ballot boxes for the Macroom area were taken to Mallow this morning (Saturday) where the papers were separated, & then taken to County Hall for counting. Below are updates as they come to hand:

5:30pm: Final (11th) Count: The six seats are full – Michael Creed, Gobnait Moynihan, Michael Looney, Martin Coughlan, Eileen Lynch, and Ted Lucey are elected.
So there will be no representative from the Millstreet area in the council. There are two from Macroom, one from Berrings, one from Aghabollogue, one from Crookstown, and one from Ballyvourney.

 

11am Sunday: 3rd Count

10am Sunday: Counting underway again

2am: Second count: Transfer of Michael Creed’s surplus 480 votes. No big change [1] [2]

11pm: The first count result: Michael Creed and Gobnait Moynihan are elected [1][2][3][4]

 

While we’re waiting for the results, Rod Steward is playing the Páirc this evening:

 

8:20pm: The first count for Macroom is still ongoing [1]

5:30pm: Counting underway. First count not expected before about 8pm.

5pm: “Final tallies for Macroom show Creed (FG) on 2,882, Moynihan (FF) 2,573, Looney (FF) 2,198, Lynch (FG) 1,697, Coughlan (Ind) 1,575, Lucey (FG) 1,458, Collins (FG) 1,139… Not the final result!” [1] [2]

12:30pm: “With 18 out of 56 boxes opened so far for Macroom at Mallow, tallies show Creed at 18%,Lynch 16%,Looney 15%,Moynihan 9%, Coughlan 8%, Lucey 7%, Dennehy and Feeny 5%” … [Southern Star]. These look the boxes from the Ahabologue and Macroom areas.
