This week on ‘Where the road takes me’, John Greene travels to Dripsey to meet Mags McCarthy.
If you’re not familiar with her music and dancing, there’s a very good reason. The past number of years have been spent abroad, expanding her career worldwide – in over forty two countries to be precise.
Having learned to dance at the age of four and mastered many a musical instrument, her big break came when she was asked to join the Irish dance troupe – Rhythm of the Dance’
Playing at sold-out venues all over the world, Mags became their principal lead performer as a dancer and fiddle player.
In between tunes on the fiddle and a few songs, she speaks about being asked by former American president Barak Obama to perform for him at the White House.
There’s a performance for the Royal Family at Chelsea in London.
Breaking into Nashville to play and record. Her songs later entering the American Country Charts.
