Eily’s Report – 9th April

Dia is Mhuire díobh go léir a chairde, and welcome, on this beautiful crisp Spring day, giving us all the chance to go about the things we want to do including the birds to build their nests.

 

The monthly meeting of the Community Council will be held at the Wallis Arms Hotel tonight starting at 8 o’clock sharp. All members please attend.

 

A very successful Coffee fundraiser in aid of many needy causes was held at our Garda Barracks last week. It was very well attended and there was a real friendly atmosphere as members welcomed all  those who came between 10.30 am to 2.30 pm in the afternoon to support it. This has become an annual event by now and is helping good causes as well. It creates a great bond between the Gardai members and the general public.

 

A highly successful equestrian event entitled the International Welcome Tour, has just finished it’s five day stint at the Green Glens and there’s lots more to look forward to in the months ahead. So keep in touch with their website and don’t miss the exciting events on this world stage on our doorstep.

We have a great Trad. Weekend coming up. It will run from this  Friday to Sunday 14th  It’s part of the program of the popular Group entitled The Conifers whom will be in concert at the Wallis Arms Hotel  Saturday night, a show not to be missed.

 

Fundraising Concert will be held in St. Patrick’s Church Millstreet, on Sunday April 14th. Featuring Duhallow Choral Society and Kerry Choral Union in aid of Millstreet Hospital,   Tickets available from local shops or at the door.    Starting at 7 pm. Please give it your best support.

 

Our very Best Wishes go to Patrick and Catherine Buicke on the opening  of their new business, entitled Capabu in our Town square. Beside O Leary’s Butchers. Their shop will sell many food items not on sale in our town already. Health Foods, Both fruit and veg smoothies, teas, coffees  etc. Give them a call and see for yourself, the full range of what they have on offer. Please give them your best support.

 

Well done to Sue and Andy Graham on successfully nurturing the five baby lambs, without the help of their mother,sheep. Sue who came from the heart of London adapted very well to life in sunny Kilmeedy where she and Andy run an animal sanctuary for many creatures who need a home. See the picture of the five lambs on our website.

 

The AGM of the Lotto Committee was held at the Wallis Arms on Saturday night making  it 25 years of this popular fundraiser. At the Election of officers the existing officials were re-elected in block.

 

The Millstreet Vintage Club will host what they call an Auto- Jumble, on this Sunday, April 14th at the K&L Grounds, MountLeader.  All are invited to partake, cars, bikes, tractors, tools.  Bring ‘n Buy. For more information contact Dan O Riordan 087 245 25 69.

 

Tune in every Tuesday night to Sean Radley’s wonderful show on Cork Music Station. It runs on line from 9.30 to 11.

 

The Season of Lent moves on and next Sunday, April 14th  is Palm Sunday and we are all asked to bring some palm which will be blessed at Mass it can then hung up in the home,  to bring many blessing throughout the coming year.

 

Holy Thursday is on April 18th, Good Friday, April 19th, Holy Saturday April, 20th. Easter Sunday April 21st and on  the Bank Holiday  Easter Monday April 22nd.

 

Here are the results of this weeks lotto Draw which was held at the Bush Bar on Sunday night. Numbers Drawn were,

 

11, 18, 20, 24 and the Jackpot was not won. €100 went to Fr. Paddy O Byrne, the Seller was myself and I got €50 sellers prize, €50 went to Libby Mae and Conor Hickey Ballnagree, €20 each to Sharon and Lucky, Drishane Rd, J,M,N,P,T, c/o Tom Carroll. Many congratulations to the wonderful Duarigle Gaels Football team who won the Duhallow Championship in a replay on Sunday.

Eucharistic Adoration every Tuesday and Wednesday in Millstreet Church from 10.30 am to 10.30 pm. In Cullen on Thursdays from 10 am to 7 and in Ballydaly on Saturdays 10,30 am to 12.30 pm. If you have no time to take part then you can avail of the box and slips of paper that are on the table at the end of the church, write your request on them, no need to sign your name, Put the paper into the box and this box will be placed in the adoration chapel where your request will be included in the prayers of all who pray there.

 

Confessions in Millstreet Church every Saturday from 12.30 to 1, and sometimes after Mass.

 

Don’t forget to keep Millstreet clean and litter from.
