Death Notice: Jerry O’Donoghue, Cullen

The death has occurred of Jerry O’Donoghue
Cullen, Co. Cork

Passed away peacefully at his residence following a short illness bravely borne. Deeply regretted by his wife Joan, his daughter Cathy, brother Anthony, in-laws, relatives and friends.

Lying in Repose at Tarrants Funeral Home, Millstreet on Thursday evening from 6pm to 8pm, followed by removal to the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Cullen. Requiem Mass on Friday at 12 noon, burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. Family flowers only please, donations, if desired, to the Oncology unit CUH.

Studying the War of Independence in Duhallow

Duhallow Heritage Society will hold a talk by local author and military historian Dr. William(Barry) Sheehan. The title of the talk is ‘Studying the War of Independence in Duhallow’. The talk will take place on Tuesday 12th February in ‘Dubhlinn’ Social Centre, Kanturk which is adjacent to Kanturk Mart.

The 50 year-old Corkman, who grew up in Cullen, near Millstreet, was one of seven sons of parents who owned a petrol station and bus-hire company in the village.
A graduate of UCC, he has lived in the English capital for 28 years and now runs what is the second largest residential developer in the city, with FTSE-listed Berkeley Group ranking number one.
