“Where the Road Takes Me” This Sunday at 7pm on C103

We thank Presenter, John Greene, for advance information on this Sunday evening’s programme.  (S.R.)

Favoured by walkers and surfers, but unsafe for bathers, the Long Strand near the village of Rathbarry has a reputation of being an outdoor enthuasist’s Heaven.

On this week’s edition of Where the road takes me, John Greene, accompanied by senior ecologist Kevin Corcoran, discovers that the reputation is well deserved.  Cliffs, sand dunes, marine life, a coastline caressed by the pristine waters of the Atlantic Ocean, and a caring local community all contribute to make the Long Strand a breath-taking place of beauty.

And why does the neighbouring light from the Galley Head Lighthouse shine inland as well?

You’ll need to join us on Where the road takes me, this Sunday evening at 7 on C103 to find out why.

  1. My local beach! It’s heaven… dunes caused by tsunami about 200 years ago.. very interesting if John Greene gets to chat to someone about this phenomenon… I don’t know a whole lot about it.. I’m from Millstreet like…

    1. Eugene – Many thanks for your very interesting comment. Yes, Presenter John Greene broadcasts some excellent radio features on Sunday evenings. His focus this Sunday evening was indeed on magnificent West Cork.
