Millstreet Community Student Third Year student, Ciarán O’Sullivan from Mologhroe, Cullen has been called up to the Republic of Ireland Under-15 Squad. They travel to Spain next week for three matches against Spain, the Netherlands and Hungary. Ciarán, who plays with Mallow United, is the sole Cork, and indeed Munster, representative to have been selected for this prestigious tournament and he is expected to earn his first cap for Ireland during the week. On Friday morning (25th Jan. 2019) School Principal Pól Ó Síodhcháin in the presence of the Student Assembly and Staff presented Ciarán with a special certificate on behalf of the school. He had his Ireland jersey with him and some of the School’s own soccer team kitted out for the occasion. Ciarán’s mother, Marie, was also present for the uplifting occasion. We extend sincere congratulations to the wonderfully talented Ciarán on such a magnificent sporting achievement. We thank Principal Pól for alerting us to the presentation and for providing the background information. Here we share a selection of some twelve images from the special event. Even a splendid rainbow appeared over the School following the occasion! Click on the images to enlarge. (S.R.)

Mallow Uniteds Ciarán O’Sullivan continues to impress on the international scene and has been selected in the Ireland U15 squad that will travel to Spain at the end of the month for a four team tournament that also includes international sides from the Netherlands, Hungary and Spain. Ciaran is one of four uncapped players included in the squad and all but two players in the squad are drawn from League of Ireland Premier Division, English Premiership or English Championship clubs including Tottenham Hotspur, Birmingham City, Dundalk and Shamrock Rovers. Mallow United are very proud of to see Ciaran represent the club at such a high level. Ciarán is part of the Mallow United U15 squad who were National Cup semi-finalists and Cork Schoolboys League Cup runners up last season and are currently in a battle for top spot in the U15 Premier Division and in National Cup action in the Town Park this Saturday afternoon. Mallow United would like to extend their congratulations to Ciarán and hope that he enjoys the experience of competing at such a high level.`
