First things first and today I must extend out heartiest congratulations to our wonderful U12 Camogie Team on winning the County Final on Saturday in Blackrock beating St Fanahan’s in an exciting finish. They came home to a wonderful welcome, and I want to say well done to them and all those associated with the team. They can justly take a bow.
The Dairy Show which has been running here every year since 1982 was again an outstanding success at the Green Glens Arena last Saturday. The annual event brings great business to the town and the crowds come from many parts of the world to compete with the cream of livestock or just to just to see and to meet and to learn. And above all to enjoy. The meeting of like minded people is very important where they can thrash out the pros and cons of the challenges that they meet in a changing world.
The Community School Under 16 soccer outfit under new coach Mr O’Síodhcháin hit the ground running and began the Munster with an emphatic win at the Town park on Monday, October 22nd. Eoin Guiney had a hat-trick before the break, and scored again in the second half in a game that was never in doubt. Opponents Newcastlewest got one back at 3-0, but Guiney’s fourth meant their second was only a consolation . Millstreet now eagerly await their next game, the Munster quarter final.
On Friday, 5th Oct. 2018 at Cork’s School of Music, Union Quay the official launch of the Adrivale Painters Exhibition took place in the presence of many Artists, the Deputy Lord Mayor of Cork, Family and Friends including a visiting Bishop, famous Sports People and a gifted pianist from Ardmore, Co. Waterford. The official launch was performed by the Deputy Lord Mayor while the keynote address was superbly delivered by Seán O’Riordan (formerly of Drishane Road, Millstreet) in which he very especially praised the Art Teacher Supreme – Neil Kelleher of “Adrivale”, South Douglas Road, Cork. We very much recommend a visit to the excellent Exhibition before it ends in the School of Music at the end of this week. Below we share the first of a number of images recalling the most enjoyable launch which actually coincided with a wonderful Concert in the same building that night celebrating the Cork Folk Festival 2018.
