Eily’s Report – 11th September

Dia is Mhuire díobh go léir a chairde and welcome to my report.

Millstreet Community Council will hold their first monthly meeting following the summer break, at the Wallis Arms Hotel tonight starting at 8.30 sharp.  All members please attend, the meeting will deal exclusively with our plans for Culture Day September 21st.

Our popular Pipe Band will hold their annual church gate collection on September 15/16 and your support would be gratefully appreciated.

I have a note from Anne Keane to say that 12 of our friends from our Twin Town in Brittany Pommerit le Vicompte will arrive here on  next Saturday Septwmber 15th and stay till September 22nd. On arrival they will be treated to a warm welcome and refreshments at McCarthys Bar. Please drop in and give them a real Millstreet welcome. 

Then they will be met  by their host families. Sunday will be spent with the host Families and on Monday they will go on tour for two days.  A day trip to Waterford, is planned for them on Thursday, and on Friday  night September 21st, they will attend the Grand Ball  which will be held in their honour at the Wallis Arms Hotel. This will be a ticket affair, comprising of a three course dinner plus dancing to the music of Ger Murphy and Ken Cotter. A great night is assured. Next day Saturday 22nd  be  there to give them a fond farewell  at the end of yet another great trip to Millstreet.

Every Good Wish to Chloe Collins who will be part on the Cork ladies Football team to meet Dublin in the All Ireland Final at Croke Park on Sunday at four o’clock. This match will be televised.

 

And good luck also to the lovely Maria Murphy of Ballydaly, daughter of Tim and Josephine, who has already got Miss Dublin South title to her name and will compete for the All Ireland Title at the Helix on next Saturday night.   And we wish her the Best of Good Luck. So its Millstreet Girls to the fore this weekend.

 

 

 

Millstreet Vintage Club will hold their Carriganima Tractor Run in aid of CART, (Their Rural Transport Service) on Sunday September 16th . Registration at the Pub from 10.30 for 12noon takeoff. Over a lovely local  scenic  route. refreshments at the pub on their return. For details contact 0872600640.

 

Set Dancing will resume in Ballydaly Hall on tomorrow night, Wednesday September 12th from 8.30 to 10.

 

Coffee evening in aid of Mary Mount Hospice will be held in Ballydaly Hall on September 14th. Cards in Ballydaly on Sunday September 16th at 8.45.

 

Cards in Cullen onWedneday September 26th. At 9.

 

Trad Music with Anne McAuliffe in Cullen, starting on September 10th.

 

Set dancing will resume in Aubane on Monday September 17th. .

 

Millstreet Adult Learning Centre held an Open Day on Thursday September 6th for those who could not  attend can ring Marie 0867707301. on Monday or Thursday only.

 

All classess free to over 18s on a Social Welfare Benefit.

45Drive at the Canon O Donovan Centre every Tuesday night at 9 and all are welcome.

 

Here are the results of this weeks lotto draw which was held at the Bush Bar on Sunday night,

Our active retired Group will hold the Registration night on Monday September 17th at 6.30 at the Parish Centre, and will be followed by Mass at7.30.

 

There are notice boards in the town giving full information on our local and countrywide walks etc.

 

With the Autumn Season well on its way it is important to find an enjoyable and fulfilling  way to spend the long nights. There is a wide range to choose from and be sure  to find one suit you
