And welcome to our people from all over the world who love our Website and find it a wonderful link with home even though they live and work in faraway places. And when we meet them on a trip home as I did last week, it’s great to know that we really are all one through this modern medium.
The Month of May has dawned wet and cold, continuing the struggle that’s being made by farmers and indeed builders and all the people who are engaged in outdoor pursuits. We can only pray to God for an improvement. And to be conscious of the heavy burden that is on all those who are literally trying to keep their heads above water.
The hard work goes on to keep Millstreet Clean and our group have already been lauded for their efforts. Giving us the incentive to keep up the good work. Watch out for Clean Up days and please make every effort to keep your own place clean. Outside my own place the fine stone wall which runs from the Millers Bridge the Mount Leader Lodge is beginning to crumble. Thankfully I drew the problem to the attention of IRD Duhallow and I’ve been assured that it will be seen to with the help of various public bodies out there.
This is the first of May and during this month the Holy Rosary will be said at Tubrid Well every evening at 8. Starting this evening and all are welcome.
Watch out for the May Program at Bruaic na Carraige. On May 11 they will have Peader O Riada and Sean O Se in concert. A show not to be missed, and lots more to follow. Their annual Summer Camp will be held for 6-15yr olds July 16,-27.
School of Music the first week in August.

In spite of the bad weather, our Turf Co-Op are about to start the new season. This year work will begin in Kilcorney, followed later at Gneeves.

The goodness of people never fails to amaze. And fundraising in Kilcorney rose to a high level at the weekend when the Ned Tarrant Tractor run in aid of Mallow Search and Rescue was held and raised in excess of €10,000 for this worthy cause. Organised by the Banteer and Kilcorney Macra it attracted a record 230 tractors of every kind and description. Well done to the organisers and their supporters.
Likewise a four hour concert was held at the Oliver Plunket Bar in Cork on Sunday in honour of the popular Timmy –the- Brit McCarthy. The little man with the English accent who brought Irish Set dancing to the whole world. From humble beginnings Timmy went out to the Highways and Byways of the Country and collected countless numbers of the great old custom which were almost lost, and brought them, not only to the towns and cities of Ireland, but to Europe and America and Asia. In recognition of his great work, over twenty of our well-known bands and groups came to the venue free of charge, on Sunday where the overwhelmed Timmy-the- Brit sat and enjoyed the great tribute which was paid to him.
Well done to all those who are involved in the Marie O’Dwyer beautiful song, All Along the Wild Atlantic Way, with many local faces and artists, appearing on the video. And can be seen on our website.
A notice on our Mass leaflet this week says that a Pastoral Ministry Course is to begin in Millstreet in September. Taking place for 20 nights, on Tuesday nights from 8-10. Closing date for applications is May 18th. Contact the Parish Office at 02970043.
