“Where the Road Takes Me” on C103 This Evening at 7

This week’s edition of ‘Where the road takes me’, is the second of three
programmes entitled ‘The sinking of the Lusitania – Myths, mysteries and the West Cork connection’ The passenger liner was sunk by a German attack
submarine off the Old head of Kinsale on Friday May 7th 1915, with the loss
of 1, 198 lives.

This week on programme Two……

* We deal with the part played by Courtmacsherry Lifeboat after the
sinking – Using the exact words spoken and written in the aftermath of the
sinking, local people play the parts of crew members, witnesses and
reporters.

* UK based naval historian Professor Eric Grove clarifies a point
made in previous documentaries, that rescue services took their time in
responding, for fear of being torpedoed themselves.

* And………

We look at the background
and fate of the Cork passengers on board Lusitania, and continue the story
of Julia o’Neill from Rosscarbery.
