Eily’s Report – 10th October

Dia is mhuire diobh go leir a cairde and welcome to my report.  An important notice from the Community Council to say that they are hosting a public meeting at the Wallis Arms Hotel tonight, October 10th  to organise the holding of a Parish Talent Competition, to run over the Winter months. Everybody’s ideas will be welcome. Please support it well.  The meeting starts at 8pm sharp.

Because of road works in the Glenflesk area of Kerry, road traffic is being diverted through Millstreet, and everybody is warned to be extra vigilant and perhaps expect delays. People driving out on to the road  from their homes, must do so with the utmost care, and places around schools etc are  also bound to be affected.

The Arts & Crafts Class opened at the Adult Learning Centre, Main Street, last night and over the next six weeks a wide range of  hobbies and pastimes will be on the agenda. And those attending are invited to bring along  examples of their favourite crafts. All are welcome to take part. It runs each Monday nights from 7-9 and includes a friendly cup o’ tea and bickies.

The weekly meeting of the Knitting Club takes place at the same venue tonight and every Tues. night from 7-9 and all are welcome.

 

Community singers meet every Thursday night at the Parish Centre from 7.30 to 9  and new members always welcome.

 

A note from our Vintage club to say that  they are hosting the annual Model Toy Show in Dromtarrife Hall on Sunday October 15th.  Always a great occasion with something for the young and the not so young guaranteed. It will run from 10.30 am to 5pm on  next Sunday October 15th.

 

The National Dairy Show will be held at the Green Glens Complex next Saturday week.

 

On next Friday night the Monthly Prayers in honour of  centenary  of Our Lady’s third vision at Fatima will be held at Aubane Social Centre. Please attend it well. Starts at 8pm sharp.

 

Also on Friday evening the Reach Out to Cancer Support Group will hold their annual Mass in our Church starting at 7.30. again support it well.

 

Here are the results of this week’s parish Lotto draw which was held at McCarthys Bar on Sunday night.

Numbers drawn were 6,9,16,23 and the Jackpot was not won.

€100 went to Guerins Shop, Ballydaly. The sellers were Lehane and Robert. And they got €50 sellers prize. €50 went to C. Healy, Liscahane. €20 each to Mary O Sullivan, Station Rd. Paul McCarthy c/o Colemans. Shan and Jackson c/o Marie Twomey,Susan Murphy c/o Joan Casey. Abigail & Noah Tarrant, Liscreagh. Sean Murphy, Knocknakilla, Donal OMahony,c/o Colemans, and Paddy O Riordan, Killowen. Jackpot for next week €5,800. This weekend’s draw will be at the Clara Inn on Sunday night.

 

The Enrolment Mass for this parish based programme for children preparing for their First Holy Communion in 2018, their parents and guardians, will take place this weekend. On Saturday night in Millstreet at 6.30 and in Cullen on Sunday at 10.15 . The Community Singers will attend at the Saturday evening Mass in Millstreet.

Millstreet   Parish  Pastoral Council will meet tonight at the Parish Centre at 8.

 

Millstreet Christmas Market will be held at the GAA Hall on Sunday Nov. 26th.from 12noon to 5pm.

A Service of Remembrance will be held at Cork University Hospital on Friday October 13th in the Sacred Heart Church. All who have experienced pregnancy or infant loss are invited to attend. Starts at 7.30.
