The cool winds of Winter are starting to blow and it’s time to bring out some of our winter warmers. But in case we start to complain let us spare a thought for to people in the North west of our country and worse still the thousands of people in America who are battling to survive against mighty hurricanes. Please keep them in your Prayers.

Well done to the people of Carriganima who held their 5k walk/run /cycle on Saturday in aid of both Millstreet & Macroom Hospitals. Over 150 people took part and at journey’s end they enjoyed some welcome refreshments and a social evening at the Pub with Music by local man Peter Lane of Blackwater Sound fame.Our Active Retired Association held their annual Registration meeting at the Canon O Donovan Centre last night. There was a great turn out with increased numbers signing up for the Season ahead at €35 each . Every Member was given a list of the fixtures that have been planned and booked to bring us up to Christmas. Classes include dancing, Aqua Aerobics, Yoga From your Chair, Mindfulness, to name but a few and they meet every Thursday Morning at Nibbles Café at 11 0’clock for a friendly Tea/Coffee etc. Their annual Mass will be held in the Church on Friday November 29th at 7.30 followed by refreshments in the Parish Centre. Further afield they have planned a trip to the Dáil on Oct. 25th, and to the Phil Coulter Concert at the Opera House on Nov 18th. In December they will have their Christmas Party at the Riverside Hotel in Macroom. Just to give you a flavour of what the brilliant organisers have in mind for our Active Retired folk in the months ahead.

The Millstreet Athletic Club are holding 5K training sessions in the Town Park with the view of getting more people up off the Couch. Starting on Sept. 18th sessions will be held every Monday & Thursday night .For more details contact Maeve at 087 2617001.

The Adult Gym at the Youth Centre is proving very popular under the expert eye of Michelle Cronin. Take her number and give held a ring for details.  Gym 08740169 84.

And please be reminded that the Community Council have placed defibrillators for public use at the door of the Youth Centre and the Door of the Garda Barracks in the Town Square.

The Monthly Community Council Meeting has been deferred from tonight to Tuesday night of next week Sept 19th.

Here are the results of this weeks parish Lotto Draw which was held at Tarrants Bar on Sunday night.

Numbers drawn were12,14,27,28 and the Jackpot was not won.

€100 went to Eamon Guerin, Lombardstown. The seller was Tarrants and they got €50 sellers prize. €50 went James & Teresa Cronin, Kilmeedy.

€20 each to Judy Lucey,Banteer. Kevin & Connie c/o the Mal Passo. Padraig Murphy. Cloghoulabeg, Pamela Brophy, Rathcoole, Eileen Enright,Station Rd. Eileen Irish, c/o Graces Salon, El. Picaro c/o the Mal Passo.   Jackpot for next week €5,000 the draw at the Bush Bar on Sunday night.

A note here from John Joe Herlihy to say that a gala dance DVD Launch will be held at the Edel Quinn Hall, Kanturk on Friday night Oct 13th 2017 More details in the coming weeks.

Millstreet Pipe Band will hold their annual Church Gate Collection on next weekend Sept 16/17. Please give them your best support.

The Band is also having registration night on this Friday Sept.15 from 8.45. in the Band room Carnegie Hall, for people from the age of ten upwards.

The Church choir resumed at the 11.30 Mass, last Sunday following the Summer Break. They practice at the Parish Centre every Wed, night from 8pm and new members welcome.

Still with Singing, our Community Singers with Marie Twomey are starting up again on Thursday night 5th October at 7.30 again at the Parish Centre.  New members always welcome.

Coffee morning in aid of Marymount Hospice on Thursday next Sept. 14, from 9.30 to 12.30 at the GAA Hall.

Millstreet Set Dancers had their registration last night. The same group are looking for Used Clothes in aid of the Blind. Taking them on Fri. Sept 15th. from 6-8 and on Sat. 16th from 10-12.

Cullen Community Cards every Wednesday night from 9.

45 Drive at the Canon O Donovan Centre every Tuesday night at 9.

Set Dancing in Ballydaly every Wed night Sept 13th from 8.30.

And please let me draw your attention to the Rosary & Prayers at Aubane Social Centre on Tomorrow Wed night Sept 13th starting at 8 sharp. These prayers are in honour of the Centenary of Our Lady’s third Apparition at Fatima. The Statues of Our Lady of Fatima and the three visionaries will be there on the night. Please support it well in these dangerous times of World Conflict.

Still with Aubane their weekly Set dancing will resume on Monday Sept 18th from 9.15pm, and all are welcome.

The Diocese of Kerry are offering a free workshop tonight Sept. 12th on Reducing Food Waste & Composting. At the John Paul Centre Killarney at 8pm.  The number of our Parish Office is 02970043 for enquiries about all religious and church affairs.

Eucharistic Adoration in Millstreet and Cullen at the usual times, Confessions in Millstreet every Saturday from 12.30 to 1.
