“Where the Road Takes Me” on C103 This Sunday at 7pm

We thank Presenter, John Greene, for the following advance information regarding his Radio Documentary this Sunday.  (S.R.)

This week on Where the road takes me, we feature the second programme dealing with influences on the revival, survival and progression of Irish Traditonal music.

This week John Greene looks at the contribution of three musicians, who are regarded as being exponents in the art of playing their favourite instruments.

Box player and former member of De Danann Jackie Daly from Kanturk, tin whistle player Mary Bergin, and fiddle player Matt Cranitch from Rathduff, all speak about their early influences, and how traditional music has progressed and changed for the better down through the years. There’s music of course as well from all three.

AND……………

Deirdre Ni Donnachu, a member of the Michael Dwyer festival committee, now in its’ nineteenth year, laments on the difficulty of obtaining funding from the Arts Council.

Influences on Irish Traditional Music – Programme Two – On Where the road takes me, this Sunday evening at 7 on C103.
