Eily’s Report – 20th June

I hope you’re making the most of this spell of beautiful warm sunny weather.

Our  annual Corpus Christi Parade was blessed with sunshine on Sunday last after the 11.30 Mass and a large crowd took part.

And on Monday night Fr. Paddy O Byrne celebrated Mass at Tubrid Well and again a large crowd attended.

The good news here at the moment is that we no longer have to boil our water supply which comes from our holy Tubrid Well. The new filter system has been installed in record time, and we are free to use the precious liquid direct from the tap. Visitors to the Well will find that they will no longer have to bend down to get a cup of water. A nice tap has been put in place plus with a supply of cups.  People continue to flock to this Holy place  where they will find peace and tranquillity at any time of day or night.

We wish the people of Cullen, fair weather for their annual Feis on Sunday next June 25th. Starting at 12 noon. There are competitions in many categories and lovely prizes to be won. Sports at 2pm, and entertainment plus dancing and music from 3pm. Please give them your best support.

 

Our athletic club have organised a Sport Day for Primary Schools to be held in the Town Park on Monday June 26th, starting at 10.45.

Millstreet Juvenile GAA Club Church Gate collection on next Sunday June 24/25. Please support them well.

 

The annual  Willie Neenan Road Race takes place on Friday June 30th, register at the Hall at 6.30pm, walkers start at 7.30 runners at 8.15.

 

Please note the change in date for the annual Mass at St. John’s Well. It will be held on Tuesday June 27th, with a 7.30 start.

 

The prize winning garden of Gertie and  Maurice O’Donoghue, at Carrignavar will be open to the public on next Saturday and Sunday June 24/25, from 2-6pm,  in aid of Marymount Hospice. Directions signposted on the Cork/Mallow at Rathduff , and from Carrignavar Village.

 

Millstreet Gramophone Circle Meeting will be held this Friday night  June 23rd, starting at the Caonon O Donovan Centre at 8.15. Presenter Ivor Horton.

Here are the results of this weeks parish Lotto draw which was held at Corkery’s Bar on Sunday night. Numbers drawn were,7,15,16,26,

And the Jackpot was not won. €100 went to Stephen Tarrant, of Tarrant’s Bar, They were also the sellers and got €50 sellers prize. €50 went to Noah Kelleher c/o Declan. €20 each to Tommy and Sarah c/o Cahill’s Bar, Brendan Lehane c/o Coleman’s, Con O Leary, Carriganima, Shane and Pat Dineen, Inchileigh. Dan Collins, Drishane Rd. Ann O Mahony, Inchileigh, Anna McCarthy, Boherbue, and Joan Wall, Station Rd. Jackpot for next week €2,600 the draw at the Mal Passo Bar on Sunday night.

 

Following the draw on Sunday night chairman Noel Buckley congratulated fellow member Paula Healy/O’Shea on being appointed Chief Station Officer of Millstreet Fire brigade and wished her every success for the future.

And  he also extended a sincere words of thanks to the retiring Michael Healy, and thanked him for his many years of loyal service.
