Local Competitors Success at Moonraker Forestry Rally

The Moonraker Forestry Rally which took place last Saturday April 8th was the 2nd Round of the Valvoline Forestry Championship,the Rally which was  based at the Abbey Hotel in Ballvourney and oraganised by Munster Car Club who laid on 8 Challenging Stages around Mullaghanish and the surrounding areas on what turned out to be a
very dry day which made for sometimes quite dusty conditions,once
again there were some Local Competitors taking part with last years
winners Desi Henry and Ballydaly Co-Driver Liam Moynihan leading the
Field away,while they didn`t repeat last years Victory this time
around they still finished a fine 4th overall at the end, Tom
Murphy and his Co-Driver Kieran O`Donoughue in there Ford Escort Mk2 had a great Run and at the end of the Rally they emerged victorious in Class 10,Grace O`Brien from Dromtariffe was the Co-Driver in the Class 9 winning Vauhall Nova which was driven by Ruari Maguire from Tyrone, John O`Sullivan from Boherbue driving his Fiesta finished 5th in Class 16,Ballvourneys Ciaran Creedon driving a Honda Civic and Co-Driven by John Murphy had a great run and finished 2nd in Class 11F,
Danny Creedon and Derry Healy in there Subaru Impreza had to
retire on Stage 2 due to a Mechanical Issue but returned under
Rally 2 Rules to have a great run and finish 6th in Class 15,there
was no luck for Ger Cullinane who had to retire after 4 Stages
while going well in his Toyota Starlet,The Rally had 81 starters
which is a record amount of Competitors taking part in a Forestry
Event in recent years and was won by Keith Cronin in a Fiesta R5
who was in turn followed Home by Josh Moffett Fiesta R5 in second
place with his Brother Sam Moffett Fiesta WRC finishing in 3rd
place overall in what was a closely contested Battle at the Top End
of the Field. The 2wd Battle was won by David Crossan in a Ford Escort MK2,Out of the 81 Crews that started the Event 65 made it back to the Finish Line after a tough days Competition.
