“Notice is hereby given that the lands of Drishane estate, including Drishane, Dooneen, Coole, Droumnahilla, Lackabane, and Mount Leader, in our possession, are strictly preserved, and trespassers in pursuit of game or otherwise, will be prosecuted!”
– it is an interesting notice because as far I was aware, the Sisters of the Infant Jesus held the drishane estate, but did not include outlying areas
– hunting would have been a popular ‘sport’ for the locals, so this would have signalled the end of the sport on the Drishane lands.
