They said it was going to be great and it was .The World Team Mounted Games Championships lived up to everything that was expected of them .
Twenty countries from all parts of the world decended on Millstreet and they were delighted with their stay.
At first it was a daunting task as we were not sure of what to expect. But following some meetings with their representative Mr. Conor O’Leary we found that we could do it after all. Many thanks to all those who answered the call from the Community Council to come out and help. Thanks to their co-operation, the town looked lovely and the crowds came out to welcome the visitors.
It was an exciting week which saw a tie between England & France for Gold and Silver for Ireland.
On Saturday night, Denis Doody of the renowned Kingdom Caterers served a five course banquet to 500 guests at the dining hall in the Green Glens bringing an exciting week to an exciting close.
But we have no time to sit back because next week we will play host to 30 countries for the FEI European Jumping Championships for young riders Juniors and Children on horses. It will run from July 26th to 31st inclusive.
And on Tuesday July 26th we will see a return of the popular Liam O’ Connor in Concert at the Green Glens. Please pass the word as many people missed this concert last week because they didn’t hear about it so please tell your friends . Admission is free.
A special meeting of the Community Council will be held tomorrow Wednesday night at 9 in the Wallis Arms Hotel to plan the opening Parade etc.on Tuesday night next. All are welcome and please attend it well.
This weekend all roads lead to Cullen on Saturday night for the unveiling of a memorial to the late great Pádraig Ó hIceadha. It will be held at 8pm followed by refreshments and music. And all are welcome.
On Sunday July 24th ( St. Laitiaran’s Day) the Cullen Special Needs Association will host their annual Harvest afternoon with all the fun of the out of doors. Please support them well.
On Sunday evening last a gala BBQ was held at the Pub in Carriginma followed by music and Dance.
Many congratulations to our All Girls setdancing team who qualified for the All Ireland final in Listowel . The final will be held in Ennis in August and we wish the best of luck.

A memorial will be unveiled to the famous Riobard O’ Sullivan,better known as the Bard, at the Kerryman’s Table on August 14th .
Please get out and enjoy the lovely spell of fine weather. Silage harvesting and lots of other farm work is progressing at a very fast rate so please take extra care when out and about.
