Visitors from Sacramento, California, USA at Millstreet Museum today tracing O’Leary Roots from the 18th Century. Delighted also to greet local young people who recognised links to their Family at the Museum. And sincere congratulations to the Gilbourne Family of Killarney Road, Millstreet on being featured in such fashionable style in yesterday’s front page in glorious colour on the prestigious “Irish Times” having been photographed at Punchestown Races. Tracing their O’Leary’s roots … I have some of those! They need to come to the O’Leary Clan Gathering in Inchigeelagh in September.
Patrick, thank you for your much appreciated comment. The O’Leary Clan in question from today’s visit is different to our O’Learys of Adrivale. They showed me a photograph of a great house where the Family lived until 1848 …. All the Family emigrated to USA … Great interest in horses when living in the Millstreet area. They believe the house was later the residence of the McSweeney Family.
Sean, thank you for the reply. I will send you some materials about the O’Leary Clan Gathering you can send to today’s guest. The more O’Leary’s the better. The Gathering will be September 9-11, 2016 at Creedon’s Hotel in Inchigeelagh. This is will be the 21st Gathering.
