There is great excitement all over the place about the parish records that have been displayed on our website. Records of births, marriages and deaths can now be sourced back as far as the mid 1800s  and will attract worldwide interest.

Further to that, details from the famous Cork Butter Market are also on line, giving an account of all the people who sold butter there from as far back as 1884. Again this record will open up widespread interest. And will provide many talking points amongst our people.  Already I met a man today who has in his possession one of the wooden “stamps” that was used to determine the identity of the supplier.

Still with historic things, on Sunday last the Kerry Archaeological  and Historic Society  hosted a historic trail , taking in Clara, Drishane, Kilmeedy Castle and Upper Ballydaly. They started out from the Carnegie Hall at 2.30 and a fine crowd took part.
