All little children and the Moms head for Herlihy’s Centra Store on Friday next June 26th, from 12 noon to 1.30. They will be treated to free ice cream cone for the children and coffee/tea and cake for the moms.  A delightful end to the school term and a lovely start to their Summer Holidays.

 

Tune in to Sean Radley on his Cork Music Station to-night from 9.30 to 11.  It can be accessed through the Millstreet Website. On tonights program among other things, Sean will be talking to James Dean who won the AllIreland Drift Championships which were held at the Green Glens Arena a few weeks ago.

 

The People of Carriganima are hosting a gala fundraising social at the Abbry Hotel, Ballyvourney this Saturday night June 27th. Music by the popular Peter Lane of Blackwater Sound Fame. It’s all in aid of the wonderful Carriginma Area Rural Transport

(C.A.R.T.) which is proving a real boost to the life of this lovely historic Village and it’s wonderful people. Tickets at €30 each can be had from the Seanie or Matt at the Pub or any member of the group. Please give them your best support.

This week we extend our hearty congratulating to the spritely Peg of the renowned Peg’s Shop in Adrigole who celebrated her 99th birthday at the weekend. She still serves the customers and has the chat as they come and go. We wish you many more years of good health and happiness Peg.

 

Tomorrow Wednesday June 24th is the Feast of St. John and the Annual Mass will be celebrated at the Well dedicated to him on the slopes of Mushera Mountain Starting at the earlier time of 7.30. The Millstreet Church choir will attend.

 

Following the Mass all are invited to dance the night away, at the platform on the slopes of Mushera Mountain a little further on along the road.. Music by the wellknown Jerome Coakley. Of Lee Sound Fame.  A great evening is assured.

 

Millstreet Vintage and Classic Car Club will hold a Run and BBQ this Saturday June 27th. Register at the Bush Bar from 6 to 7 .The run takes off at 7, ending at MollCarty’s Bridge, following a 40K winding route along the way.

The Willie Neenan Road Race will be held this Friday NightJune 26th. Starting at 8.15 for a five mile run around the Glebe. Walkers race starts at 7.30. Ending at the Bridge Millstreet. Prizegiving and refreshments will follow at the GAA Hall.

 

School Sports were held at our Town Park on Monday. It was favoured by fine weather and a great time was had by all.

 

Please come out every Thursday evening and help with the weekly clean-up, of the town and its environs. The group meet at the Town Square at 7. all  the nessessary equipment is provided.

 

It’s that time of year again when Gertie O Donoghue and her Husband Maurice, of Dromboy, Carrignavar will throw the gates of their beautiful garden open for good causes. It’s open this weekend June 27/28 from 2to 6 pm  in aid of Marymount Hospice. Directions will be in place on the Cork/Mallow Road

(N20) at Rathduff and from Carrignavar Village.

We have a note from the Irish Blood Transfusion Service to say that 119 donors gave blood at their recent trip to Millstreet, and they want to extend,  to them a sincere word of thanks.

Well done to our local TD Aine Collins, who aquitted herself very well on TV last night. Her prompt reaction to Vincent Brown’s tough questioning proves that she has gained great experience and confidence since being elected. And we wish her and all women in politics every success in the future.

 

 

Anne Keane and her Sister Ruben will launch their CD at the Corner House  Bar, Coburg St.Cork on this Saturday June 27th at 4pm. And the good news is that they will  have a relaunch  in Millstreet in the near future.

 

An evening of Prayer for Healing will be held at St.Fursey’s Church Banteer ,on Thursday July 2nd 2015 ,starting at 8pm. Consisting of Recitation of the Holy Rosary, Holy Mass Benediction, plus Healing Session.

 

 

Eucharistic Adoration in Millstreet Church every Tuesday & Wednesday from 10.30 am for twelve hours and Starting in Cullen on Thursdays from 10am to 7.

 

Confessions in Millstreet  Church every Saturday from 12.30 to 1pm.

 

Schools around the country are closing this week for the Summer Holidays. Please be on the look out for children as they go about to enjoy their long break.
