Dia is mhuire diobh go leir a cairde and welcome to News Report 1241 from Millstreet . Fondest greetings dear listeners and I wish you all the very best on this the first Tuesday in November. The change of time and the end of our long hot Summer has left us reaching for warmer clothes and turning up the heat.

But it remained fine at the weekend for Halloween. Little children dressed in all sorts of scary outfits went from house to house singing and dancing to earn the goody bags, before rushing off to the next place. Some places sent up sparking fireworks as the little ones gazed skywords in awe of it all.

As so we are into the Month of November,the month of the Holy Souls when our thoughts turn to prayers for our dear departed.

Special indulgences, applicable to the Holy Souls , can be gained from November 1-8 by those who visit a graveyard and praying for the dead.followed by confession and Holy Communion.

Blessing of Graves will take place at the Graves in Millstreet on Sunday next Nov 9th ,starting with the Churchyard Cemetry after 11.30 Mass ,St Mary’s at 12.45 and Drishane 1pm.

Special candles for placing on the graves, will be Blessed at all masses at the weekend.

And at the end of the month a special Mass will be said for all those who passed away in the last 12 months.

Eucharistic Adoration will be held at the usual times during the week and confessions on Saturday from 12.30 to 1pm.

The big event of the week will be on Friday night, Nov 7th at the Wallis Arms hotel when our Community Singers will launch their first ever CD. Already gaining lots of notice, thanks to all at C103, The launch night will be one to remember. Marie Twomey with a little bit of help from her friends has compiled a program that will be hard to beat. Peter Lane, The Kelt , Church Choir, Personalities from C103, and lots more will be there to entertain.Food will be served and it all kicks off at 8.30. Admission is free and copies of the CD at €10 each, will be on sale on the night. And afterwords at many venues around the town.

So please come along and support this enterprising group.and have a great night out.

Proceeds will go to Cancer Research.

Our weekly lotto Draw was held at McCarthys Bar on Sunday night. Numbers drawn were2,7,9,21 and the Jackpot was not won. €100 went top Denis ,Nikki,Michael & Thomas c/o Patsy Mac. Patsy was the seller and got €50 sellers prize.

€50 went to Eileen Tucker, Ballydaly. €20 each to Rosmary Kelleher Keim. Good,Bad & Ugly c/o the Mal Passo Bar.

Our Youth Complex is about to get a complete overhall in the not too distant future, Meanwhile the Community Council says that it is available, at reasonable rates, for Childrens parties, birthday parties etc. The contact number 087 77 97 400.

Boherbue Christmas Market will be held onSunday November 23rd from 2-5pm.

A great night is guaranteed in Cullen on Saturday November 15th when their Pipe Band Committee will hold a Race Night at Flemings Bar. First Race at 8 and lots of prizes to be won.

Our Green Glens Arena is being renovated this week to host the mighty Self Build Exhibition which will be held there for two days this weekend Sat & Sun.all under one roof.

An information evening on the recording of Historic Graves in Duhallow will be held at the James O’Keeffe Institute on Tuesday November 11th ,starting at 7.30 . For more in formation please contact Mary Creedon at 029 60633.

Well done to our Community School students who raised € 687 at their recent baking fundraiser in aid of the Marie Keating foundation.

Well done to the Kelts on their very appropriate new song in honour of our teams win of the County Final.

A very important evening on food intolerance will be held at Aubane Social Centre on Tuesday night of next week Nov11th. Starting at 8 and all are welcome.
