Fondest greetings dear listeners and I wish you all the very best on this wet and calm Tuesday morning. The last one in September.

A very successful, 3day,  all Ireland Pony Cross Country event was held here over the weekend. It’s a three part program comprising of Dressage and Show jumping at the Green Glens and Cross Country over the plains of Drishane.

And the good news is that Drishane has been booked to host the 2016 European FEI Junior Show jumping Championships for young riders and children.

This weekend the Green Glens will be the nerve centre of the 100th year of Mighty Cork 20 International Car Rally.

This past weekend many of the contestants came and travelled the various routes, in order to be familiar with them when the real day of reckoning comes this weekend on October 3, 4, and 5.

Meanwhile, all are invited, down to the Green Glens during the days of the Rally where centenary celebrations of the great event will be celebrated with a host of fun events. So don’t miss it.

And on behalf of our Community I want to wish our hardworking local committee every success with this mammoth undertaking.

Hot on the heels of the Cork 20 will be the National Dairy Show on October 18th.

The Pony Owners Show on October 24, 25, 26,

And the Self build on November 7, 8,9th.

An enjoyable Coffee morning was held at our Millstreet Garda Station on Monday. It was very well supported and all proceeds go to Marymount Hospice.

Please take note that because of the Cork 20 Rally, Canon John has decided to change some mass times at the weekend. And the 9am Mass for Sunday at Ballydaly has been cancelled, and there are changes to the masses in Kilcorney also.

And please note that the 10.15 Mass in Cullen on next Sunday, October 5th will be their Annual Harvest Thanksgiving Mass, and all are welcome.

A Special Mass will be said in Ballydaly on Monday October 6th to Congratulate Fr. Sean Tucker on the 50th anniversary of his Ordination.

Card Drives have resumed at Ballydaly on Sunday nights at 9 and all are welcome.

Set Dancing at Aubane every Monday night and all are welcome

And on this Thursday night Oct 2nd they have a social night in Aubane Social Centre from 8.30 to 10.30.

Zumba Classes begin there on Friday October 3rd. at 8, and their Community Alert program will be launched on October 8th.

Many Congratulations to the members of our Men’s shed who have secured the lease of the Old Fire Station on the Macroom Road. New members always welcome. Contact Bertie Buckley or any member.

Eucharistic Adoration in our Church every Tuesday & Wednesday from 10.30 am to 10.30 pm and in Cullen on Thursdays from 10am to 7. A box Notelets is available at the end of the church where people can write their requests, place them in the box and this box will be placed in the Adoration Chapel all will be included in the prayers of all who worship there.

As a result of the recent sponsored Walk in Carriganima, €1,000 each was raised for both Millstreet & Macroom Hospitals. The Cheques will be presented at the Pub on Saturday October 11th.

An important notice from Al-anon family support group, They will hold an open al-anon meeting at the Millstreet GAA hall on Wednesday 8th of October at 8,pm If you or someone close to you is affected by any addiction this meeting will help you, All welcome Refreshments will be served.

And more fundraisers on the way. Herlihy’s Centra Super store will host their Annual 5K walk around the Glebe on Friday October 10th.

The drive is still on to raise €5,000 by October 24th in aid of Mary Mount Hospice .Our local group are going from house to house selling tickets.

And a Monster Raffle for great prizes at the Pub in Carriganima on the last week of October.24th.

Bingo in Banteer tonight Jackpot €6800 in 51 calls.

Total prize money €8,000 .Starts at 8.30.

Bingo in Millstreet every Thursday at the GAA Hall.

Church Choir practice at the Parish Centre every Wednesday night. At 8. New Members welcome.

Parish Singers with Marie every Thursday night at the Parish Centre, starting at 7.30 new members welcome.

Millstreet GAA Club Annual Golf Classic on Friday October 3rd in aid of Millstreet Hospital.

Our Community School Students held a very successful Trad. For Trocaire at the School recently. And raised up to €500 for this worthy cause.

A million congratulations to the brilliant Cork Ladies Football team on their gallant win on Sunday.

I’m justly proud of my cousin Breege Corkery with her 13 all Irl medals at such a young age.

It must be her Uncle Fr Jackie’s Prayers.
Here are the results of this week’s parish lotto draw which was held at the Wallis Arms Hotel on Sunday night .Numbers drawn were 4, 7, 15, 26 and the Jackpot was not won. €100 went to Brian Cremin, the seller was Patsy Mac and he got €50 sellers prize.
