The painting of our town is really beginning to show, with shabby places and eyesores fast becoming things of the past. It is truly amazing to see the way our people have rallied around this challenging project. And each and every one of them has to be complimented on their wonderful enthusiasm. So much is done and so much more to do, so please keep up the good work. The recent rain gave a real boost to all the flowers and green areas, so even the Lord Himself is helping. They always say that God helps those who help themselves. And I want to make special mention of Claudia’s Pitza Place in the town Square . Their use of colours is outstanding and that coupled with their delivery Van in matching colours parked on the street outside ,is a feature you just can’t miss. I’m asked to remind you again of the great Karaoke night which will be held at the Wallis Arms Hotel on Friday night July 25th. So that you’ll have time to prepare, There are cash prizes for the best singer and for the best look-a-like, Food will be served Admission €10. For more details contact Nuala 087 9818220. You need Time also for you to build that buggy for the Buggy race which will held on Sunday July 27th. Contact Bertie Buckley at the Men’s shed, for the rules and regulations connected with your craft. Please be reminded that our Community Council have placed two defibrillators in the town for public use. One at the door of the Youth Centre and to other at the door of the Garda Barracks. The Adult Gym is open every day at the Youth Centre and the rooms at the Youth Centre are available at reasonable rates for Children’s Parties etc. Contact Jenifer Collins.   Get in touch with Breda at our local Library to book a place in the art project that is being held there every Wednesday in July. From 3-4. Breda’s Number is 029 21930.   The Cullen & district Special Needs Association will hold their Annual Harvest Afternoon on Sunday July 20th, which is St Laitiaran’s Day. They will hold a Committee meeting on Monday night next July 14th at 8pm. They are in need of more help so please support them well.   Meanwhile out in Ballinagree their Vintage Society will hold their Harvest Festival and Family Fun Day, on Sunday August 3rd. Their Newly selected Mayor will attend. They have a full program of events to suit all the family and a grand Raffle in aid of Macroom Hospital.   The AGM of IRD Duhallow will be held at the James o OKeeffe Institute on Wednesday July 23rd starting at 8 and all are welcome.   A Copy of The IRD Duhallow monthly Report is delivered to every household please read it carefully and remains up to date with all the help and services that they have to offer.   And still with IRD Duhallow, a number of people from Millstreet are travelling to Dublin to-morrow to join forces with many others who holding a Leader Rally in the Capital, in support of the popular IRD Duhallow, and to ensure its future for all our sakes.   In spite of so many notices by the County Council in our graveyards asking people not to dump litter from graves at the sides, people still continue to do so. And on behalf of us all I’d like to appeal to them to please refrain from doing so in future. And show more respect to the last resting place of our departed loved ones.   Church Gate Collection this weekend July 12/13th are in aid of our local Community Hospital. Numbers drawn were 3, 4, 6, 27 .and the Jackpot was not won. €100 went to Con. O Connor Rathrue, the seller was Super Valu and they got €50 sellers prize. €50 went to Jerry O Connor liscreagh, €20 each to Niamh Cronin Liscahane, Pat Barrett Carrigacooleen, Mgt Healy, Minor Row, Janet Dennehy, Shinnagh, Ml Cremin, Curraghraugh, Paddy O Donovan, Sandpit, Conor & Darragh Hanratty, and Kathleen Healy Drishane View.   Jackpot for next week €12,000 the draw at Corkery’s Bar on Sunday night.   Millstreet staged the Munster U15 Football Tournament Final last Saturday where Kerry South defeated Cork West to collect the Humphrey Kelleher Memorial Cup.   Millstreet overcame Buttevant in the North Cork Minor a Hurling Championship in Castlemagner last evening.   Weekly Eucharistic Adoration in our church every Tuesday & Wednesday from 10.30 am to 10.30.pm and in Cullen on Thursdays from 10am to 7. Ask there also for details of Youth & Pastoral Ministry Courses which apply to both young people and adults.   This time next week our town will be fully geared up for the arrival of the Mighty World Juggling Convention which will bring up to 3,000 extra people from all over the world into our town, filling it with gaiety and colour for Almost two weeks. Don’t Miss it. And hot on its heels will be the European Pony Championships on July 29 to August 3rd.
