The first item on my list of things to remind you of this week ,is of course the Willie Neenan Memorial 10K road race which goes ahead this Friday evening June27th. Runners starting at 7.30 Walkers starting at 6.30. All the finer details are on the website . Registration for those who havent done so on line is at the GAA Hall prior to the start. And no buggies please.
Lots of fun to be had and lots of cash prizes to be won. So get ready to pay homage to Willie Neenan, the man who made the Millstreet Athletic Club world famous.

Still with walking, contact IRD Duhallow for details of their Duhallow Trail Walk on Monday July 21st.
The AGM of IRD Duhallow will be held at the James O Keeffe Institute onWednesday July 23rd at 8. All welcome.

This year we have a repeat of the Buggy race. It’s on July 27th and proved very enjoyable and popular last year. Those who intend to take part , please get in touch with Bertie Buckley at the Mens Shed for details

The Mighty Juggling Event will be moving in from all over Europe on July 19.-27. Bringing up to 3,000 extra people into the area for up to two weeks. They have a full program of events ending with the Grand Parade through the town on July26th. They love mixing with the local people so be ready to come and greet them to a real Millstreet welcome.

We have a mini Fest running in conjunction with their visit. Karaoke competition at the Wallis Arms on July 25th. GAA Fun Day in the Town Park July26th and Buggy Race

July 27th.

 

Hot on the heels of these events will be the 2014 European Pony Championships starting on July 29th to August 3rd. combining ShowJumping ,Enventing and Dressage with 17 countries taking part. The regal Grounds of Drishane Castle, are being manicured for some of these events. So don’t miss them.

 

The Annual Millstreet Summer Horse show will run from August 12th -17th. All those with good quality accommodation to offer please contact the office at the Green Glens, 029 70800.

 

Meanwhile in preparation for all that is to come here in the weeks and months ahead our vibrant Community are engrossed in painting the whole town, in a colour scheme that was designed by Dulux Paints. Every able bodied person is expected to catch a brush ,in order to get the job done on time.

 

 

A note here to say that the garden of Gertie & MauriceO Donoghue Dromboy,Carrignavar, will be open to the public on Saturday & Sunday next June 28/29th, from 2-6 each day There will be a Sculpture Trail and plant & flower sale. And it’s all in aid of Marymount Hospice.

The venue will be signposted on the Cork/Mallow Road N20. at Rathduff and again from Carrignavar Village . Please give it your best support.

 

Every Good wish to Joe Guerin Ballydaly who launched his CD last week at the Torc Hotel Killarney .Lovely to listen to and an ideal gift.
A few weeks ago a real twister was filmed on Clara Mountain and last week we had a powerful whirlwind in a hayfield off the Clara road. It was well captured by Niall Murphy who happened to be working in the area. And thanks to our team it’s on the website for all to see. In the old days they were a common sight on Summer days, and known as a Shidhe Gaoithe,a Fairy Wind.

Please be reminded that our Community GYM is opened at flexable hours by Jenifer Collins at the Youth Centre, And the Youth Centre is available for Birthday Parties etc at reasonable rates. Contact,087 336 1 666.

 

The annual Mass will be said at St,John’s Well in Mushera

to-night starting at 8. Both the Parish Church choir and the Pipe band will attend.

Following the Mass a gala outdoor dance will be held at the Platform in Mushera ,Music by Ger Coakley. A great evening is assured.

 

I want to send a very fond Birthday Greetings to the spritely Peg who runs the lovely country shop in Adrigole,she was 98 this week.

 

A PAIR OF Spectacles were found and handed in to Reen’s Chemists,where they can be claimed.

 

People who are in the catchment area of the televised church services will be glad to hear that the service is now restored. Many thanks to those who provide this great service to people who are in the local hospital or housebound at home.

 

A notice here from the Millstreet Methodist Church to say that a Worship Celebration will be held at the Church of the Sacred Heart in Kiskeam this Thursday June 26th at 8pm and all are welcome.

 

Our Local Red Cross Branch are looking for volunteers in Theraputic Hand Care for Millstreet and Kanturk Hospital. Training will be provided.Contact

Our Corpus Christy Procession was held last Sunday following the 11.30 Mass and there was a marked increase in the numbers of people taking part.

 

Charasmatic Renewel Conference in RDS Dublin on Sunday June 28/9.th.

 

Eucharistic Adoration in our Church every Tuesday & Wednesday from 10.30 am to 10.30 pm. and in Cullen on Thursdays from 10.30 to 7pm.

 

Legion of Mary Meeting in our Sacristy every Monday night at 8 and all are welcome.

The Weekly lotto Draw was held at the Wallis Arms Hotel on Sunday night. Numbers drawn were 11,26, 30 32 and the Jackpot was not won. €100 went to Kathleen Creedon, Aubane. The Seller was Tim Murphy and he got €50 sellers prize. €50 went to Mgt Leader Cloghoula. €20each to Pa & Kathryn. John & Noreen Twomey, The Bridge,Eileen Carney, Dromagh. Kathleen & Donal O Keeffe, Tanyard Wood.Molly Keane,Coolikerane, Camogie Club, Aiden McCaul,The square, & Joan Collins.Dooneen.

Jackpot for next week €11,600 the draw at Tarrants Bar on Sunday night.

 

Again a reminder ,
Millstreeet Athletic Club stage the Willie Neenan Memorial 10km Road Race on Friday at 7.30pm preceeded by a walk from 6.30pm.

 

In GAA, Millstreet play Dromtariffe in the Duhallow Junior A Football Championship in Cullen on Friday evening with an 8pm throw in.
