Travel Writer Supreme Mary Russell Wonderfully Impressed by Butter Road
Renowned Travel Writer Mary Russell from Dublin during her walk on the famous Butter Road on Friday, 20th June 2014. We feature just two images of a full and comprehensive feature later on this remarkable “Irish Times” contributor and frequent RTÉ broadcaster whom we were privileged to have guided in the Millstreet area on Friday. Click on the pictures to enlarge. (S.R.)Mary writes a very regular superb blog (maryrussellwriter.wordpress.com) which is read worldwide – more about this most interesting aspect of Mary’s inspirational approach to life later. Here we note how impressed she was by the panoramic scenery on her way to Rylane on the Butter Road. She met a host of marvellous people along her journey including Tom Goggin who presented her with an excellent book on “Mahon’s Rock”. Mary certainly intends to return on another occasion. Friday provided perfect weather conditions for walking. (S.R.)

Mary has posted some nice photos from that day on her blog, of (the other) St.John’s Well on the Butter Road, and signposts and a way marker at the top of Togher (highest point of the butter road at the side of Mushera. see them here:
