  1. My father Maurice Walsh (born Millstreet, and now 90) asked me to say thanks for mentioning him on the page, and he was delighted to see “Dobbin”, the toy horse, again in a photo of the window displays.

  2. John…We were indeed so delighted to have included in the fascinating Old Style Christmas window in West End, Millstreet, “Dobbin” the Mobo Toy Horse which your Dad, Maurice, so very kindly presented to Millstreet Museum some years ago. It added hugely to the display and is very much in keeping with the era being illustrated. Our very best wishes for a very Bright and Healthy 2014 to your dear Parents and all the Family. Maurice’s great interest and support over the years to Millstreet Museum is deeply appreciated. One of our most treasured and admired historic items at the Museum is, of course, the beautiful Gramophone which is in perfect working order and which Maurice and your Mum, Eva, arranged to deliver to Victoria Coach Station in London from which I left on Slattery’s Coach to Millstreet with the Gramophone. The handle to operate was to follow later. So many Museum visitors have so enjoyed the superb sound of 78rpm records on the magnificent gramophone over the past years…including Government Ministers, Bishops and others. “Dobbin”, the toy horse is truly enjoying the attention he is receiving on his Christmas Display at Murphy’s Furniture Shop in West End…before returning to his home in Millstreet Museum in the New Year!
