Superb Success in Tracing Millstreet Roots

What a splendid reunion at Cloghoulamore, Millstreet on Friday 2nd Aug. 2013
What a splendid reunion at Cloghoulamore, Millstreet on Friday 2nd Aug. 2013 when Ken Sweeney from San Francisco, California and his wife Lucille (an expert genealogist) met the O’Connor Family for the very first time.  Joan O’Connor (nee Fitzgerald) is related to Ken in that both had the same Fitzgerald great-great-great grandfather.   The O’Connor Family accorded a true Irish welcome to Ken and Lucille giving them a much appreciated guided tour of the original homestead, the farm and the wonderfully scenic surroundings….with of course a mighty cup of tea and freshly baked delicious currant scones!   This must be one of the most successful root tracing stories in Ireland during this Year of the Gathering.  Here we share some pictures of the historic meeting of both families.   Special thanks to both Marys in Millstreet Museum who helped to facilitate the meeting.  Click on the images to enlarge.  (S.R.)
