The death has occurred of Charles (Charlie) O’Sullivan of Ballyvodock East Midleton late of Millstreet and North Horsemount Kilcorney. Midleton, Cork
Beloved husband of Anna, Dear Father of Catherine, Bridget, David, Margaret, Patrick, Annemarie, Clare and Caroline, Brother of John Joe, Chrissie and the late Mary, Peggy, David and Tim. Sadly missed by his loving Wife, Sons, Daughters, Sons in-law, Daughter in-law, Grand children, Brothers in-law, Sisters in-law, Nephews, Nieces, extended family, Neighbours and Friends. Reposing at O’Farrell’s Funeral Home Riverside Way Midleton. Rosary on Sunday Evening at 7pm. Reposing on Monday from 5pm with Removal at 7.30pm to St.Mary’s Church Carrigtwohill. Funeral Mass on Tuesday at 12 Noon followed by burial in St.Mary’s cemetery Carrigtwohill. Family flowers only please. May He Rest In Peace.

Regret to announce the passing this evening Saturday 23rd March of Charlie, formerly of Kilcorney and Killarney Rd, until he moved to east Cork during the 80s. Charlie was deeply involved in all aspects of community life in Millstreet, and sympathy is extended to Anna and family. – Joe Kennelly <email>

Charlie O’Sullivan was born in 1933,
into a family of seven children, in a
small farm in Kilcorney in North West
Cork.
Much of his early life was spent living
in Kilcorney. After finishing national
school he worked on the farm. In the
mid 1950s Charlie met Anna whom he
married just over 50 years ago.
They set up home back on the family
farm in Kilcorney and moved to Mill-
street in the mid-60s.
During this time in Millstreet he be-
came Chairman of the Millstreet GAA
club, coinciding with a time of great
success with both th
e Millstreet senior
football team as well as the Cork team.
During his time in Millstreet he worked
with several different agricultural based
companies before eventually setting up
his own business Preference Products in
the mid 80s based in Little Island.
The family moved to Carrigtwohill in
1976 and Charlie b
ecame very involved
in the community especially the GAA
and was one of the founding member
of the Carrigtwohill juvenile GAA club
in the late 70s which is a platform for
the success that the club enjoys today.
While Charlie and family moved to
East Cork he never forgot his roots in
Kilcorney and remained very involved
in community affairs there.
Charlie was a member of the commu-
nity council in Carrigtwohill and also a
member of the pastoral council during
which time was involved in setting up
the baptismal group.
He too reached out to many through his
work with St. V de Paul Society.
Charlie and Anna retired in 1998 and
they enjoyed 15 years of retirement
until his sad passing in March.
He is survived by his wife Anna, his
sister Chrissie, brother John Joe in Bos-
ton, 8 children and grandchildren.

Charlie is probably best summed up in a
text message received from a member
of the community on Charlie’s passing.
“What a great world it would be if there
were people like him around. He was
one of the finest, kindest and most gen-
erous gentlemen I ever had the privilege
of knowing. I know this is a very sad
time for you and your family; however
you must also be very proud to have a
father like Charlie.”
