Dia is mhuire diobh go leir a cairde and welcome to News report 1159 from Milllstreet . Fondest greetings dear listeners and I wish you all the very best on this nice calm Tuesday morning.

The Jackpot was not won at the Wallis arms last night. Jackpot for next week in €8,000 the draw at Tarrants on Sunday night.

The Wallis Arms hotel was full to the brim for the launch of our Gathering Year  last Friday night. Special guests were Comedian Allan Short  and TV personality Matt Cooper . Son-in-law of Andrew and Mary Hickey .There was wine and finger food for the taking and Allan had the crowds in raptures with his witty ways and lighthearted comments. A very interesting film show comprised by Justin Black, gave a splendid account of all that Millstreet has to offer, and it includes clips from some of our people now living in far away places, an opportunity to wish their loved ones and Millstreet in general a very successful Gathering year.

Matt Cooper gave a very entertaining cupla focail before cutting the tape a declaring the Millstreet Gathering officially open.

It is disappointing to hear that some people missed it because they didn’t know it was on, in spite of the fact that it was widely advertised.

And in view of all the events that are to come, people would be well advised to arm themselves with the many pamphlets and leaflets that are widely available throughout the area giving full details of all that is happening here during this year of the Gathering.

RTE are in the process of making a documentary on the O Sullivan Bearra Way and their Camera Crew were in the Area during the week where they retraced the steps of this great man and he made his  way through the Millstreet area.

  1. Anyone who missed out on the launch night on Friday 15th March please be aware that there were many posters displayed in the shop windows and there was a very impressive sign at The Square. There is also information available on Facebook/Twitter/millstreetdevelopment.com/millstreet.ie.

There really is no excuse for missing the launch but for your own non vigilance.

For further information and alerts to the next event please send your details to <email> or text 086 4535703
