The Annual March fair was held in the Town on Sunday. It was cold but dry as it always is for March Fair. The town was lined with colourful stalls, and there was a wide range of livestock on
display in the outskirts. Prices were down with some reaching new lows where a pony was sold for €5 while laying hens were selling at €15 each. One rooster reached new heights when he flew up on the high roof of Barrett’s house and was quickly captured on camera by Sean Radley and in no time at all, made it to the web. Take a look.
We are delighted to say that the mighty Cork 20 Rally will be based at the Green Glens Arena this year. On October 4/5/6th.
And on to-morrow Wednesday evening, March 6th, it will be launched in our Town Square. Between 7 to 8 pm and all are welcome. Please come out in large numbers to greet this great event.

World Wide Welcome multicultural event will take place on Monday 11th March from 7pm in Millstreet Community School. Admission is free, all are welcome to a night of song, dance and food from different countries. Contact John Magee at the school for details.

Still with Cullen A Monster Cake Sale, organised by their Pipe Band, will be held at their Community Centre on next Sunday March 10th after 10.15 Mass . Please support it well.
Meanwhile at the Glen theatre this weekend don’t miss their wonderful comedy staged by the Banteer Drama Group, entitled Stop It Nurse. It’s on Friday and Sunday nights March 8 and 10th starts at 8.30 for booking ring 029 56239.
Please bear in mind that there are various clubs and groups in the area that welcome new members. Look out for a one that suits you and get stuck in. Above all do not be alone.
Our Cancer Support Group will be there on this Thursday at the Adult Learning Centre from 10.30 to 12noon. Have a cup of tea and talk to people who have had first experience of dealing to the illness themselves. Ring 087 903 14 75.
Our annual Vintage Rally will be held at Easter again this year and this time the proceeds will go to this Cancer Support Group.
Is anybody out there having bother with these new long life electric light bulbs. Lots are complaining that they blow very often. And as there is such a vast variety of them our shops are having problems stocking them. I’m sure our local Station would be glad to hear from those who agree with me.
Eucharistic Adoration in Millstreet Church every Tuesday & Wednesday and in Cullen on Thursdays, from 10.30 am to 10.30 pm. Lots of people have signed up to do an hour every week at a set time, But everybody’s welcome.

On Friday night. the Millstreet Macra set dancers, that comprised of Niamh O’ Mahony,Tracey Lehane, Maura Sheahan, Cathriona Cullinane, Laura Lynch, Ciara Hickey, Deirdre O’ Mahony and Eileen O’ Sullivan won the regional round of the National Talent Contest.
Kieran Murphy also won Mastermind .
Both groups will represent the region at the upcoming county final.
On Saturday night their member Rebecca Enright took part in titles competition and won Miss Blue jeans. Their debating team also beat Kerry Macra to progress to next round of the national competition.

Millstreet were well represented at the Duhallow Scór na bPaistI Finals last weekend. Winning the Ballad Group with other medals were collected a for the Novelty Act,.Set Dancing and solo singing.
The Ballad Group go forward to a county semi final in Coachford on this Saturday night at 7pm.
At the County Senior Scór Finals, St. John’s collected the best overall team while Millstreet retained their title in question time.

Millstreet incurred a narrow defeat to Cullen in the Ducon Cup on Sunday last.

The AGM of the Lotto Committee was held at the Wallis Arms Hotel on Friday night. It was very well attended. Co-Chairmen Noel Buckley and Denis Twomey presided as did Secretary /come /Treasurer Marie Twomey. In it’s 19th year the Lotto continues to be the highpoint of the town’s fundraisers. Supporting the Youth Amenity Complex, The Town Park and the GAA.
Three bodies that encompass all levels of our Community. From a daily crèche for the very young, to the Town Park where our elderly can enjoy leisurely walks in serene surroundings. And all ages in between.
The Chairmen spoke equally of the benefits of the Lotto to our community, and thanked at those who work to make it the great success that it is. But also their sincere thanks went to the people who continue to buy tickets year in year out.
Their support does not go unnoticed.
Marie Twomey received special praise for her wonderful work as secretary, treasurer and co-ordinator.
At the election of officers the entire committee was re-elected in block. Copies of the Treasurers Report are available on request.
Following the meeting, a beautiful well-earned, meal and social evening was enjoyed by all .
